Path of the Deus Music Video / Other AMV's using "kid s
The question I have is why does everyone put down my idea of a music video when VicBond007 did Path of the Deus to Angelic Layer which people consider a "kid show" When I try to use Zoids/ Zoids Chaotic Century in my video, The Ultimate Sacrifice done to My Sacrifice - Creed, to make some people realize that the character sacrificed there Zoids and themselves for other people they cared for. I mean why can't people put aside the fact some shows that "kid shows" are actually maybe good for making music videos if you just ignore that fact.

The show does have its cheezy moments, but what show doesn't? I find Zoids to be a really funny and cool show. Gene, don't listen to what other people say. If you think you can make a good AMV out of certain source material, do it. Hell, some Pokemon AMVs are supposedly pretty good even though that show is one of the most cheezy and crappy shows ever, in my opinion.

Gene, if you have an idea for a video that you like, then who cares what someone else thinks. It's your time that gets spent working on the video.
If I had told friends about my idea for Path of the Deus, they would have probably said, "You're joking, right? That won't work; use Eva" or "But, you hate Chop Suey and I hate Angelic Layer". My vision for the video was probably very different from what my friends would have envisioned. So I decided not to tell them until the video was ready for them to watch.
So, if you like your idea and your video can convey the message that you want to express, then go for it and ignore those who dismiss it as some kid's show amv. 8)

First off, I really don't know anyone who would say that AL is really a kid's anime o.O I guess...
Anyway, that's probably one of the only things I've done right: especially regarding anime selection, ignore what people think of an anime. The power of an AMV creator is to choose what they are going to do with the footage they are given. We are only constrained by an anime in the ways we choose to be. Case in point: VicBond007's Excel Saga video. The goofiest series on the face of the planet. The video = serious. Anime /= AMV. (normaly) AMV > anime. Really. It's true.
Take a kid's series, take an adult one, it really doesn't matter so long as you can come up with a concept.

Oh yeah, Senta, I took down the link for Path of the Deus a while back, cause the university who was hosting the machine where I was storing a bunch of amvs got pissy about bandwidth usage(limited to a gig a day). You should prolly upload it to carrot when you get a chance, or sign up to do so, and send me the ftp info so that I can u/l it for you. I suspect that there are still many individuals out there who want to see the vid(esp judging by my webserver logs)...

Thanks for everyones thoughts and once again sorry to Senta I don't know what I was thinking at the time. I have two of my favorite videos stuck in my head and I'm not that good with names anyway. But I think I'll continue on and I'll buy some more DVD footage at Otakon for a cheap price hopefully to create one of the most action packed / Drama AMV's there is to Zoids/ Zoids Chaotic Century.
Senta people still remeber your videos. Take a look at
www.freewebs.com/genestarwind21122 and you'll see your video still hanging in there according to school poles. But hey school poles don't matter it is what you think of your videos not about others like you guys have been saying all along and I should take that advice. Thanks.

OMG I got confused with Senta! Rock on!!!
Now that that's out of the way...
I don't think Angelic Layer is a "kid's" anime. Just because it features young characters doesn't necessarily mean it's geared towards kids. And even if it is, it has themes that the older audience can appreciate. Heck, Angelic Layer changed my life! Not too many animes do that!
As for using "kid's" animes in an AMV, do whatever you want. If you can make a good video with a solid concept using it, more power to ya. However, if you're just using that footage because you can get it for free off the TV so you can set it to whatever song was on the radio last, then it wouldn't have the same effect on people, but that goes for any AMV mastered from any source.
