Bag o' Tricks

Post by Lyrs » Mon Jun 02, 2003 10:07 pm

I recently looked through and watched some very impressive amvs and i was wondering if you gals and guys wouldn't mind sharing any new ideas on effects, how to achieve some of them, music and lighting, as well as anything considered in your "bag of tricks."

Felix The Cat never surrendered the secrets of his bag of tricks.

At least, not until severe torture was applied.

One of the best ways to learn how to do effects... is just look at an effect in a video, then just try to reproduce it yourself. Now i'm not advocating ripping off other peoples effect's for use in your own video! I'm just saying this would be a good way for you to teach yourself.

It's hard to explain some effects because the way they work they require certain scenes or a certain section to work. They aren't like "Apply to any scene" type effects.

It's hard to explain.

You can make a scene brighter or darker to alter the mood by adjusting the gamma.

That is the extent of my effects skillz. ::tear::

Transparency masking is the GREATEST key to making those "I don't know how he did dat GOOD SHIET" type of special effects...

I say this because it's true ^_^

Everytime I try to do effects...other than the standard fades and overlays..I end up with mucho crapola... Even though some say my split screen stuff in "Nothing at All" was good..I still think it could have been ALOT better...
