Too spoiled to like new AMVs??
Over the past months I've noticed that I have not liked any of the lastest projects that the users have been putting out. They always seem to have something wrong with it. Videos are all in fansub form, you can tell that the music was downloaded, and also all of them are first-timers.
OK, now besides stating the obvious, I'd like to ask a question. Do you think you get spoiled after watching the good ones and completely disregard even the decent ones? Cause honestly I can't sit through AMVs any more. They're either too boring or they use a played out song.
What happened to all the veteran members too? It's been a while since I've seen a decent video by a member from like 2001 and earlier.

They're sitting on their thrones as gods on Mount AMVpus, laughing at the impudent mortal editors. What happened to all the veteran members too? It's been a while since I've seen a decent video by a member from like 2001 and earlier.

Most of the newbies want to make a start. some wish to just get recognition for thier determination and effort to attempt to make a great AMV. Others are just having troubles not making an exact copy of one already made or a song used too much. And me... I can't get ahold of a decient enough pc to start making vids!

Just to make clear this is not a rant on newbies. I know that many of them try. But they're newbies so making their first video great is extremely hard. I'm more concerned about the more senior members. They're been almost too quiet.

I agree, I can't sit through at least 50% of the videos out there. But there are still some REALLY great ones that have come out recently. While the shear ammount of amvs being produced makes it seem like there's nothing good out there, I think there's actually about the same about of really good amvs coming out as there has always been, if not more.
Just a few of the really good videos I've seen lately:
It's tricky to Make a Music Video
Euphoria
Fire
Shameless country video
Whatever that yatta video was that won at Animazement... i still need to download it...

Working... on... equipment... still.
I've made 4 AMVs, none of which I'm actually dissatisfied with however can imporve on all of them. I've been getting extremely ambitious with the ideas that I want to get rolling, but I need more equpment and source (because I don't want to use to bootlegged source, omg!). Plus, college has been a major thorne in my side.
I'm not trying to show an ego or anything, I'm just giving my input, since I have been involved with AMVs since 2000 (always at the contest at Anime North (AN) since 1998). This year's AN a couple of weeks ago had some awesome vids.
I agree that you do get spoiled. Furthermore, you get spoiled when you think you know what is wrong with videos. However, Zarxrax is absolutely right. I look around a bit and find some really great videos still.
Any ideas on how to fix it? Yeah, I have my own ideas, but I don't think anyone can pinpoint anything. Good videos don't always get into distro, or don't stay in distro and become lost in the sands of time. Tokyo Dance's Silence, Chronology Anthology, Control - Sharon Apple, these are videos that rock but are nowhere to be found (Tokyo Dance's can be found online if you look hard, I got it again after losing it, but the other two, nope).
We don't get to see everything for some reason or another. The ones that are good, stop caring sometimes.
