Well, there are two that come to mind.

I was a 4-H kid and competed in the creative writing competitions for several years. I won in my county 4 years in a row and competed in the state competition. Once, I was 2 points away from winning grand prize....I think it hurts more that way than being really far behind.

The other is from Marching Band in high school. Not once did we win at state...and the thing that sucked most about that was they could have as many '1's' (the highest score) as there were bands. Never got above a 2 even though we got a grand champion in a competition once.

Actually, when I go hiking, the best thing to wear is two pairs of socks, one pair polypropylene socks, and another wool pair over them. The polypropylene wicks away the sweat, and the wool absorbs it. Also, there is less actual rubbing of the shoe on your foot. The two layers absorb most of the friction, thus resulting in a decelerated rate of blisters.[/quote]
Rozard is correct. Plus, wool will dry faster than cotton socks will because it moves moisture away from your foot to the exterior of the sock. This also help avoid discomfort, rubbing, and blistering that you would probably get just wearing a pair of cotton socks if you are out hiking all day.

People sure like to go off topic. (rolls eyes) Anyways...

My problem has always been in actually getting my tape to the contest, or there not being a problem with the tape when it arrives. The mail gods hate me. (sigh) Other then that...big disappointments...

Lets see...flying across the country and being promised that my video would atleast be played as an exhibition video, and then it wasn't shown at all.

Another time, having my video not make it due to technical diffeculties, and then the video that wins in the same category being the same footage/music that I used, and my video was equally as good as their's.

Ofcourse there was the time I flew across the country and the plane was 6 hours late, and so I missed the AMV contest. (Luckily I caught the replay the next day).

So trust me, disappointment happens. I've gotten to the point I expect my videos not to make it. Or at the least be disqualified, or eaten by the postal service, etc...

I feel proper care of your feet is a better learning opportunity than the original topic...however, since anneke is rolling the eyes:

I view "defeat" as a learning opportunity. And now you know...

I was pretty mad when I didn't win the helping hand award in the 2003 VCAs. I wanted each one of you DEAD >_>.

Well sorta. It was a breif moment of me losing faith in life(well I do that like every 10mins). Then I was like 'oh well'. Also this site being like a drug addiction helped out too :/ I guess.

Can't forget to mention your real life drug habit, too.

Yes, I know what that "tap tap tap" sound at night and all those rolled dollar bills are about.
I'm out...
