Otaku are a social minority. Much like another minority you're alluding to, we have rights to be what we are.

I'd suggest this: look at what you're doing and consider the implications of your recent banter. Don't you have a little too much free time on your hands? Ever considered dropping out of counterproductive discussions and oh... say, productively socializing instead? Or going out with your 'cool friends' to live that great social life you've been saying otaku are deprived of?

My semi-final opinion: Serpico clearly has no life. He joins an AMV site, or even just the forum* to bitch about a generalisation he knows nothing about. He is someone who takes everything for granted and has the worst people skills I've seen on this forum in quite a while. And a word of advice for the person who can't take a hint. You can't insult someone with with something that they know to be true and are proud of it. Example:

Vee: Hey Bear21, you're a bear.
[Bear21: Growl, Grr? = "And?"]
Vee: You stupid bears and all that fish you eat.
[Bear21: Growl, Grr, Growl = "I eat honey, WTF are you talking about?"]

Otaku are geeks, nerds and even gerds. Big deal. We don't care. If you want to offend someone go find a minority group that will actually take offence at what you have to say. As someone who has cosplayed Akazukin Chacha I still don't understand what you are on about. There were more people who wanted a picture with me than there were people avoiding/insulting me (0).

*I should ask Phade about that.
