Oh yay, pissing contests. ;)

This was literally the first time I'd ever worked in video. I started up Premiere around 10 pm, and by 5 am I had that video. It probably shows. (The version that's up now has better compression and a couple of fades added, otherwise it's pretty much the same.)

That was oh, a year ago or so. I'm the n00best of the n00bs. :D

First Experience: Microsoft 3D Moviemaker! :P

First Serious Experience: I did some editing work in High School for my school's broadcasts (usually news shows) and for a class project using Avid Cinema for both.

iwas messin around on my comp laying nba live 2001 and i saved the replays and noticed that they were saved as mpeg files in one of my folders. so i then got the bright idea to open WMM and put them to music.
I thought i was the shit, then i stumbled across the little site and realized that i was not the shit, and thus started my love affair with AMVs.

First experience, spring of 2001. I was taking a community college course on video production, and had to create a film as my final project. I shot a short movie, captured it with the Dazzle that came with my computer, editied it with the Dazzle capture software (man that was a pain!) and went from there.

Next was WRC videos in Ulead Video studio, and then I downloaded my first AMV, man, was that ever cool....

I remember my first video. I was amazed by my friend's first anime music video, that I had to just make my own. Therefore I did, and I still am. I premiered it on December 31st, 2001! It was a pretty cool video. I'll have to go back and redo it for better quality and junk. I used VirtualDub and a whole assortment of programs to make that first video. I've evolved a lot since then.

Oh, almost forgot. I was...15 years old when I made my first video. Wow, took me a while to remember. I must be getting old...

At the end of 1999, I got fed up with all the AMVs on Meri's ToT and I wanted to make my own. Unfortunetly though, I only had 100 something Gig with windows 98 and no video editor. I really really wanted to make music videos, because I thought it was so cool. I downloaded RealProducer, and tried to work something out of that, but it wouldn't work. (Either that, or I just couldn't figure out how ot make it work). So I deleted Producer, and downloaded the enxt best thing- RealSlideShow. I was making slideshows until near the end of 2001, when something happened with the program(I either lost it, or it died). I tried to download another one, but apparently real.com wouldn't allow you to, any more. (Remember, 1999 was when Meri only used .rm files, so I was all ".rm's the best!)

However, the whole year period, I had been saving up money for a video editor-- Dazzle. (It was the only one I knew esisted at the time). I always talked about video editing wherever I went. In Christmas of 2001, I got Dazzle, Windows Movie Maker, AND Adobe Premiere 5.0! I was SO happy! (Of course to get all that, my computer had to be updated to Windows 2000, which I really didn't like.)
I didn't have a DVD-Rom, though, or a video camera. However, my dad has a digital camera that has an odd extra feature-- It could record 20 seconds of video footage with no sound. I was so happy I cried. But again, I struck bad luck. Premiere wouldn't read the files from the digital camera, and Dazzle... Dazzle was just too complicated to even learn how ot use. The only thing it worked in was Windows Movie Maker. My first two videos were made in WMM, and since I already had edited still pictures for about a year, it was a pretty easy transition to video. However, the quality sucked horrible ass, and you could see the TV in most of the shots. :? Nonetheless, I had my video editors, and I was happy!

Then, I was searching on Kazaa one day for FFIX stuff, and a lot of AtomX's AMVs came up. I downloaded them all (practically) and noticed how there was one thing prominent in all of AtomX's FFIX videos-- Garnet cutting her hair. I hated that. I thought to myself "These are just the same scenes over and over!! I can amke a better video than all these put together!" So I did. (Although I can't really tell if it's "better") I downloaded all the FMVs I could off of various sites, and, ah HA! they worked in Premiere!! I was so happy ^-^ and my first REAL video, Kuja's Requiem was made.(I'm working on changing the name to "Kuja's Requiem.. >.>)
It was originally in .avi format, but the file was too big to put on Tripod, so I chose the only file that could-- RealMedia. I thought I was the shiznit for using that file. Mrei used it. Why couldn't I? (But in that wonderful year of 2001, Meri was learning the spledor of MPEGs...)

After that, I kept using Premiere, but it crashed a lot.(Remember that crappy computer?) I joined the org in 2002, put my first real video up, and wished and begged and pleaded for a DVD-Rom. Last Xmas, I got better then that again. A whole new custom made computer, with a CD-R, DVD-Rom, and 256 MB of RAM! I was REALLY REALLY happy.

And that's my whole AMV story. Although most of the extensions are .wmv, 99% of my videos were made in Premiere. .wmv was the only file small enough to fit on Tripod....

Er... Somewhere in 2001-2 I got something called WinTV, in hope that I could make AMVs from video tapes. I don't remember how that went..(I know I was disappointed when I didn't have an editor to use with it, I thought it came with one). I know I took a lot of screencaps and made my own video files, but never edited anything. When I was upgraded to Windows 2000, WinTV wouldn't work anymore.

So now I'm 15, loving the editing, and am doing everything I can to possibly get a career in some type of editing. I'm going into graphic Arts next year, and am continuing my year of Mass Media through Highschool. I plan on graduating early by essentially going to two schools at the same time. As I figure it, I take most of my stuff at my highschool, editing stuff included, and then everything of one or two required subjects in e-highschool. Whatever I don't finish I'll be doing in two different summer schools next year, and I can graduate Junior year, but only take "fun" and editing classes. I've started it this summer, by taking econ and government... I know it's a lot of work and money but my parents support me =)

..... And that's my story.

A long time ago.. in my basement.. I was like "AMVs ROCK" so I used cash from 8th grade graduation (oh yeah) and the $$ from quitting the paper route (I was 14 at the time) and bought a $1300 VAIO.
Then one day I was thinking which was crazy but anyway, I planned out this short video to the second techno version of fly me to the moon from eva (the only decent one).
Some night not long after I stayed up all night with sony movieshaker and videowave tossing this awesome video together, complete with really messed up AR and resolution errors, interlacing mess ups, tons of re-compressing, and about 4 seconds stolen from someone else's video :P

Good times.

Was around 18 at the time when I first saw amvs in the BIG time...

The first time I saw this site, I fell over. That's when I realized there's a LOT of crappy amvs... :(

Saw Odorikuruu and BAYM, Omni Strata Studios was born...

First video used Inu Yasha [digisubs, yay] and a poor quality mp3 of "Moonlight Shadow (New Vocal Version)"

Good Gawd...

Those of you who have opinionated that monstrosity, I say thanks. Nobody else will see it ever again,

"That is a mistake many of my enemies make. They think before they act. I act before I think!" - Vortigern from Merlin ('98)
