Define a contest troll o_o

Here's how I feel about contest trolling, if I wrote a guide on it this would be it, but I know alot will disagree :P

I think it's safe to say that the biggest contests are AX, Otakon, and AWA. The first 2 are the biggest cons, and AWA is the small but special AMV con. So really if you send to all of those I can't blame anyone, I mean thats the tuffest competition, and if you can someone win big awards at all of those your pretty dam good @_@ I still think its ok to send to the other big cons having won one already (ppl will disagree here im sure), because its still tuff competition, and there should be different vids and different judges/audience, it's also a regional thing I mean east coast is pretty different that west coast I think. I hear they call soda, pop @_@ thats crazy hehe :P and then AD call french fries chips, but washington call them freedom fries its insane I tell you ._. what does france call them btw? Anyways...

If you win any of those you should really not enter any other small contests cuz if you can win a big one its pointless to do small ones...If you win a small one first, ok now try the big ones tuff guy :o No need to send to every little con after that, exception being if you attend it. If theres some uber prize for winning I can see it being ok to enter that one too :P but not for a T-shirt to a con your not going to... Online cons, hmm they often dont get many entries so it's up to you to participate.

Then theres the fact deadlines run around the same time, while contests can be a week to 4 months away. Well if you find out your a winner you can opt to drop out of the other cons, but some cons might be like "hell no its good and we want it in the contest, your probably some other creator that hacked their email to take it out of the competition, so you can win" Ok they won't say that but still :l

Really though its all up you. If you want to send a vid that wins alot and keep winning even at small cons, so be it, but fear the wrath of sore losers and anyone that considers you a troll O_O If you want to send a so-so vid everywhere in hopes it might finally win something. Well ppl might not know it was at tons of contests and not be called a troll, but you really think that one win matters when you lost so many others o_O If you just want it shown everywhere regardless if it wins or not well, fine by me, but you might be labelled as one of the two above @_@

Anyways, I dropped my animazement entry from Quu's site, although its already 2 weeks past deadline @_@ but I never got a confirmation so maybe Quu didn't send it yet. I'm still sending/sent to my original 4, and acen makes 5 but otakon only takes 1 so I sent the other vid, so really its still 4 for each. 2 I'd attend (maybe awa for 3) and as AD said awa just makes up awards for all good vids anyways. Like best introspective >_>

There should be some kinda show for non entries or something, otherwise the best way to get it shown everywhere and not have ppl complain is to make so-so vids that get shown but win nothing @_@

AD: glad you like my vids :D I'm not releasing them till after AX though >_> I wanna see how ppl react to my silly vids for the 1st time.

TT: That's cool that you requested a drop, but I really think you should stay, AX is a tuff competition compared to AN (I'm guessing) Alot of ppl send to AX regardless of going because its a(the?) big one, and honestly I think all should apply regardless of wins so it really is a tuff competition.

MC: well I won acen and I'm still sending so I guess I'm already a troll to you :l

DW: I bet I can round up so math professors to say everything has a equation XD

Gnerally I llok at the convention as well... If It's a small con, I enter if asked to help out or if it's a audience in a new area... Usually when I win a major award, I'll stop there... But it's not a golden rule... I think everyone tend to be different...

In terms of the con's I'm doing... They are in areas with lots of fans but no contests, so it'a something new with a new audiance!! I just wnat to showcase videos more than anything.. The contest is about the only way to do it! I don;t mind videos that have won as long as it's not something like a string of wins or "world tours"... So I'm quite open to anyone....

Hum... I don't really agree with your opinion for submitting a video to so many contests. Ian and Vlad's opinions seem more fair to me...

wow. I read this thread just for education, and I am amazed that people actually set down rules to keep down people who are really good at what they do.

I don't think it'd fly in any other arena. "I'm sorry, Mr. Hanks, you've won too damn many Oscars. No more movies for you."

I mean yeah, world's smallest violin, but geez. Never thought it would actually suck to be uber1337. But I guess it does. Sympathies from this tiny nobody, guys.
