a-m-v.org = anime "mod" community?
I just realize that what amv creators do for anime is kinda like what game mods do for games. They both extend teh life of a product. AMV creators for example keep Evangelion "alive" longer then if it didn't have such a community, and game mods for Half-life for example kept the game in business and in peoples minds for a much longer of time then it would have without such a community.

Maybe the anime companies should be paying us...
The makers of Half-Life supposedly gave a "very large" check to Minh Le, a.k.a. Gooseman (the creator of Counter-Strike). I'm not sure, but I think it's because the Half-Life creators saw the popularity of the MOD and asked for permission to sell it as it's very own game.
That would kick some major ass!

They also happened to be dealing with a very cool company. Valve who developed Half-Life IIRC have been very active and helpful with helping to develop mods for their game. According to them it only adds to the popularity of their product and sometimes they learn stuff from the modders. The good ones they helped to market as their own game. Counterstrike, DoD, and another one whos name escapes me.Lone Wolf wrote:Maybe the anime companies should be paying us...
