OTAKON 2003 Deadline 5/31

I've been bumming dupes off of my friends, so the copies are getting done (slowly). I'm just about at the point money-wise where I can replace my cheap VCRs and do copies myself again.

Anyone know a good place to shop for SVHS VCRs on the web?

My local stores have only one SVHS VCR in stock and it doesn't even have a flying erase head.

In other news, got fourteen packages (plus one clueless pre-registration) in the rented mailbox today! Hoody-Hoo!

I'd suggest either onecall (http://www.onecall.com and where I bought my SVHS from) or J&R Music World (http://www.jandr.com and where I bought my DV camera from. They price match.) Both sites have excellent reputations and speedy service.

I mailed my video in today on both CD (MPEG-2) and VHS so it should work on one of the two, so watch for it! And yes, like a smart Otaku, I put a tracking number on it so that the PO can't find a good excuse for losing it =)

Whee. Just finished rendering the final cut of mine. And now to mail it off. You should be expecting a package from me in a few days. Maybe I'll be lucky and win[a copy of the contest] this year. ;)

Well, my submission's in before the deadline. Thanks to USPS Delivery Confirmation, I was able to find out that my package arrived at the arrival point this afternoon. I hope that Matt & everyone else likes my video, it only took a year or so to make...

Whoo. Got a big sack of packages to open, log, and acknowlege. There goes my weekend....

Quick reminder: if you're submitting an AMV to Otakon using the Otaku Video online service, please also fill out, print out, sign, and mail your submission form to the postal address in the rules. It'll save me a lot of time e-mailing everybody individually about it.

(I'm told we need to have a signed submission form so we can prove we have your permission to use your AMV at Otakon.)

I submitted my vid via otakuvideo, but I haven't sent in the registration form by snail mail yet. Otakuvideo says I have until 2 weeks before the con starts to do to. I'm want to confirm this, because I'm sending off the form this monday. (6/02)

So am I ok?

P.S. - I live in MS, so it's going to be hard for me to make this con, especially since I'm just a college sophmore now. If I plan now, I MAY be able to make it. If i do, it'll be my first con.

I think that's some old text from another convention that Quu helped out in the past. For Otakon I need the submission forms at the same time as the AMVs. If people haven't sent in a signed permission form, please don't delay! A 37-cent stamp will get it here fast enough. (I'm not gonna be harsh on people if I get the form only a week or two after the deadline but I really do need them sooner rather than later.)

In other news, picked up over five dozen AMV packages from the mailbox this morning... and I still haven't finished with the last pile of them.

When Quu gets back from Jacon we'll have to total up how many online submissions there are in addition to that....
