WHAT YOU'RE DOING IS ILLEGAL
Alucard says:
Just as if you're selling bootleg DVDs of Inuyasha
Seanoumaru-sama says:
Im just a reseller
Alucard says:
...do you not understand?
Seanoumaru-sama says:
If you want me to stop, just stop my supplyer
If you buy drugs off a dealer, then resell them, and you get caught selling them, isn't that just as illegal as if you were the original seller?
Computer games don't affect kids. I mean, if Pac Man affected us as kids, we'd all run around in a darkened room, munching pills, and listening to repetitive music~Kristian Wilson, CEO, Nintendo Gaming Corporation

I don't think many ppl sell amvs on ebay, I just did a search at current and complete ones and most are legit ones, and only one was fan amvs and they got a whole 2 dollars for it. Not sure what the high bid on this one your talking about is since it's gone now. This guy is full of it if he said he sold a bunch of amv dvds for 20-25 @_@ unless he did it at a con heh.

someone really needs a pounding... "I have a supplier" yeh right.. the fact that he didn't give anyone an e-mail address is proof of the fact that he is just trying to hide the fact that he burnt the DVD's himself.

And he know's it's illegal, he doesn't care. He might back off now we're onto him. but I doubt it..

now I will ask two things..
1: what did you type to search for this thing, the search I did revealed nothing and
2: what is this guys ebay id? I want to track him...

I haven't downloaded too many AMVs... or have even paid much attention to them... but this is horrible! Something should be done!

Here is a suggestions I had:
  • Why don't one of you buy one of these DVDs from him and when you get his mailing address, (hey, he's gotta let you know where to send the money. And the item has to have a return address) just report that address to the police.
I'm not sure how e-bay works... so I'm not sure if that's all possible or not... And also, NicholasDWolfwood, what's this guy's MSN name? Does he have an AIM name?

There are a few reasons I don't get things from eBay...

1 - could be bootleg
2 - could be a false product
3 - parents won't let me right now
4 - I don't want to buy anime from eBay, even if it is legit.

What's going on here is just plain wrong. I atleast "ask" permission if I can distribute. I have some AMV's on my computer by people I don't know that I won't distribute because they are so good and I don't want to get in trouble for selling them. That thing about eBay apologizing to him is probably bullshit. And you can't have more than one account per email (I'm gussing) so there is no way to track this down. What eBay should do is check the legality of their products (like the anime and how some of it is bootlegged). They should take the pictures, go look at the Best Buy site or soemthing and make sure it's legit. I do that with some of the things I get from friends. I make my own AMV's and sell them at school for like 50 cents or a dollar (depends on whether or not I like the person)
because it gets me known and if they want more, they know where to find me.

Lets make an anti-illegal anime/AMV ditrobution center! [/spontaneous (sp?) thought]

I have an idea we could do if Phade and the people running the CD distro are ok with it.

He says his 'supplier' sells his amvs at the beginning of the month....well you can make an auction where there is no bidding (technically there is, but you say don't bid and make the price 0.01 cents) and inform people.

Most of the time, these types of auctions are scams because they promise to send you information. But we could just put it right there in the auction where you can download free or send in for a large number of amvs FREE...who would be dumb enough to buy them after that?

The only con I can think of is attracting attention, but if ebay can be a middle man company for thousands of dollars worth of bootleg and pirated material (this guy claims to get away with it) then it couldn't be that bad....would need permission first though....

It might not be such a good idea for the org to get directly involved into all this, after all, what we are doing IS illiegal, and the org COULD very well be shut down or at the least fall under some critisem from people with influence enough to get the hosting servis to stop. remember here, its the sqweeky weel that gets the grece. we just proved that, so make people complaned about it and now look, its gone, if we stick out noses to far into this, then we might be the ones stiring up the bee hive with the bootleggers, and they get US in trouble. this is a two sided sword we are swinging around here. lets think before we stick out our necks.

what i think would work better tho, is if indivduals put forth the effort to promot their personal AMV work and then just casualy mintion that it ALL can be found for free at the org or the CD distro. this way it just looks like indivdual people are making a movment to inform people that AMVs are free, and not Phade and the org its self. so if someone wants to rais a stink about it, then the org will be left out, cuz IT was not directly involved. im almost serten thats breaking some law their, but it cant be worse that all the law we already break :-D
