If you can show me proof then I might except the sins you have just said. Otherwise I refuse to believe that.TheRealNeoHentaiMaster wrote:Err....actually...the whole anime stile originally come from the disney stile. Sure its evolved and diversified over the the years, but that is where the "big eye" thing all started. So the truth is really the opposite of what you said....or something.

Anime is not as narrow as Disney in that it's only for children or derivative musical. Anime is more widespread in it's genres b/c well...in Japan it's on normal Primetime TV like say Alias, Law and Order, ER and so on. Basically Anime is more like "normal" TV in the states in that it is diverse in it's appeal and categories. Disney, again, is narrow.

The original statement is false. The ENTIRE anime style was NOT from Disney...Veldrin wrote:If you can show me proof then I might except the sins you have just said. HOWEVER - Miyazaki was inspired by the film Snow White... and that is what put him on the path to becoming an animator. (Both he and Matsumoto took art classes in France, which also influenced their art style.)
Tezuka was inspired by Western Animation, but I don't know if it was Disney or not.
Most importantly - Disney should not be knocked aside so easily. Walt Disney did make the first animated feature length film ever and the Disney animations have inspired many animators across the globe. Just because Disney animated shows are more family oriented... they are GOOD family oriented films... with real quality in art and animation.
You don't have to like Disney films... nor do you have to like family themed animations... but you can not deny the impact Disney animation has had nor the quality of that art and animation.

I have to argue that point. If you read my previous post, bear in mind that Disney was responsible for the first feature length animated film ever.dwchang wrote:Disney, again, is narrow.
Disney is responsible for Fantasia, which was a rather experimental animated film when it was made.
Disney treats children like they have brains in their heads (which is not true of most animation made for children in the United States. Though I have to admit that things have improved in recent years...)
You have to understand... ever since I was in Jr. High School, I have been concerned about the dismissive nature of animation in America... and how most animations for kids are just commercials with bad plots (and bad animation) and that most films for kids are just banal and loathsome.
Disney gave kids real adventure... sure, they were family films...
but danger has existed in many of the Disney films.
When Disney did Beauty and the Beast, they researched over 100 versions of Beauty and the Beast as they worked their way to making the final films.
Look at Gargoyles... that was one of the better American made animated series I can think of... and that came from Disney.
Now... Disney is huge... and there are many aspects of Disney I dislike (and downright despise), but the creative minds behind the actual art of Disney deserve credit and admiration of which they are certainly due.

Even if they did make Hercules and Pocahontas.UncleMilo wrote: Now... Disney is huge... and there are many aspects of Disney I dislike (and downright despise), but the creative minds behind the actual art of Disney deserve credit and admiration of which they are certainly due.

Some of Disney's movies were/are some of my favorite movies ever (Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin, Hunchback of Notre Dame [which could have benefitted greatly from removing the gargoyles, I think], Lion King, and Cinderella). I think that, whether or not you agree with their practices or like some of their newer films compared to their older stuff, you can't deny that they have become a household name.
As to the threads topic...
The eyes mean nothing. Anime is the word for animation. Disney films are animated films, mostly. Thus, animated Disney films ARE anime!!
