Enter the Matrix

I recently got to play the XBOX version at work (japanese animation store), and I've got to say that the game is pretty fun. It plays like other bullet-time filled games like Max Payne or Dead to Rights, but arguably does it better. There's more moves, more action than in either of the two games.

The fact that the Wachowskis wrote a script and filmed extra footage just for the game to tell a side story in correlation with the two upcoming movies is masterful. Add to the mix Animatrix Matrix fans will have enough to chew on for months and years to come.

The amount of nostalgia and extras you can get in Enter the Matrix itself is astounding. In a glorified cheat mode, you can "hack" the Matrix, unlocking various secrets and what not through "hacking" the DOS interface of the Matrix. The people at Shiny even put in the power to eject your CD/DVD tray, at least on the PS2 version of the game. How you can do that yourself you will just have to find out for yourself by playing around with that part of the game.

While there have been arguments that this isn't the best game EVAR, in my opinion Enter the Matrix does succeed in pushing the bar higher for other movie-based games. Movie-based games are almost always crap, and only this game, The Two Towers, and a handful of others have managed to break that mold.

I enjoy Enter the Matrix for its storyline, its coolness factor, and the fact that I can kick ass just like Neo, even if it is just for a few minutes.

Matrix is a convoluted series of actions that allow people to rip off their shades in a cool fashion.

Matrix isn't really about jack shit, 'cept to "look cool". Anyone who says the story is worth a shit is a dumby. It's all about style.

That said, will I see Reloaded for the story? No
Will I see it for the special effects and style? Yes

But hell, even some of those special effects look lame. Neo flying like super man. >_> pfft.

Anyways.

Matrix is not that great of a series. It's major claim to fame is bullet-time and that has only been used in about 20zillion movies now.
