Anime Endings (Spoilers)

I've been talking about this a lot with my brother and my college roommate and we seem to think that when it comes to the endings of animes it's hard to find many good ones and even just a few great endings. Also whenever I see people post on this message board and mention the ending of a show it's normally to rip it apart. I mean the maker of Eva got death threats for his ending. I don't know if this is a general feeling towards anime endings or if I'm just a hard critic and want the perfect ending. After seeing the ending of shows like DragonBall Z, Kenshin(show and final OVA), and Ranma I've got a sour taste in my mouth for the way anime endings are done. Let me know what you think about them. Has anyone out there seen a perfect ending or do you think most can be improved on. I know it's really hard to get the perfect ending, but i'm finding it harder and harder to find really good endings for shows. Most of the time for me it seems like shows never rap things up completely and just leave the feeling of "oh, that's it". My brother put this a great way, if you watch a entire show and never have to analyze a plot in detail then you shouldn't have to think about the damn ending. I can understand eva's ending making you think and come to your own conclusion b/c the entire show was like that, but not shows like Love Hina, Kenshin, or Ranma. I"m not saying all endings suck and I've never seen a good one, I have seen plunty of good ones and even a few ones I would call great, but I know people who would say that they've never seen a good one. What's your guys take?

When it comes to anime there is really no such thing has a perfect ending. Many people would like to disagree with me on the fact that the ending to scryed was bad. I thought it was pretty good. and Im talking about the ending of the episode no the episode in general. When it comes to manga endigns are very good. For example Love Hina and Kenshin had very good endings in the manga. At lest I thought so.

When writing anything, it's tricky to wrap up every detail satisfactorily. Not often do I finish anything, a book, a movie, a series, with a feeling of true "satisfaction". Normally, I feel as you do, that it is still lacking a certain something I can't describe.

With Manga, there usually aren't a set number of volumes that the Manga-ka needs to work within, and as such, they can usually finish things up in a tidier fashion. Anime, on the other hand is usually limitted by time, or by episode count, and so a lot of times the ending is sacrificed in order to keep things within the limitations set upon the medium.

endings suck for the sole reason that they're endings. it pisses me off when i finish anything like a book or a series. it's over FOREVER. just makes me sad when good things come to an end

Acceptable/good endings that I've seen, in my book:

Niea Under 7 (nice and upbeat, with no weird twists)

Azumanga Daioh (kind of downbeat, but it ended the series well)

Trigun (Same as Niea)

Irresponsible Captain Tylor (It tied the series up well, and also felt like it left a hook open (or not) for another season, that'll sadly will probably never materialize

)

Cowboy Bebop (a good dramatic conclusion. A few loose ends, but then, the story wasn't about them too much, anyways.)

Me, I like it when a story ends, it's just that the ending doesn't always satisfy me. I hate when something drags out forever until it's pointless and has lost all interest, if any.

DBZ is called milking the product until you can't squeeze anything more out of it, and all your left with is a rather sickly looking cow.

The ending to Fushigi Yuugi was very satisfying in my opinion. All...3 of them
