yea i hear about the nice stuff that was included with the DVD's ... apparantly haruko's bass is a rikenbacher 4001 ... but i couldn't find anything aobut it and hte closest thing i could vind was a 4003, which looks exactaly the same. As for the manga scenes ... well i jsut had to hit pause a lot to read what was happening because somethies they don't give you any time to read the subtitles. Man i want to buy those DVD's .. but they're $39 each ... <sigh>Savia wrote:
Synch-Point have been nice enough to print a still version of the manga scene in the first episode and print it in the sleevenotes of the Region 1 disc. There's also some very sound translation notes and some interesting background / research into a few things like what model of Vespa Haruko rides, what models her bass and Naota's guitar etc are...
Need some help, FLCL

Haruko's bass (not a guitar) is a Rickenbacker 4000X- no longer in production, but the current 4003X is apparently very similar. Of course hers has some 'moderations', eg ripcord. Oh and Naota's / Atomsk's guitar is a Gibson Flying V, as popularised by Jimi Hendrix.

yea her bass may be a lefty, but if i ever buy one it's probably going to be a blue right handed 4003. I'd buy it to play it, not look at it. And no i wouldn't buy a bass because i saw one in that series and liked it, i'd buy one because i've been thinking of buying a bass from way before i saw FLCL. Just that FLCL would have a big influence on what bass i'd buy ...nightowl wrote:Don't forget that Haruko's Rickenbacker is left handed - not only does it have modifications, it's a custom job; in that model, a lefty version was pretty tough to find.
any one know what the price is for just a plain 4003 bass? I've seen a few numbers, 400, 600, and i think i saw 900 some where ... but i can't really get a striaght price, though i would problaby have better luck if i just phoned up a guitar shop, but i'm lazy.

the north american release was supposed to be april 30th, but there were some delays so expect it at around june 29th (not to sure of the exact day, jsut end of june). But that may be because i live in canada and were all ass backwards here ... well thats what the guy at comic world told me any ways.

and i watched half of the first ep of FLCL dubbed ... and well, it didn't change how i feel about dubs ... i fell in love with the japanese voices and the dub only reinforces that.

I had a baaaad experience with FLCL when I started it in that I was at a friend's place and there were a whole bunch of us, and it transpired that they had seen ep 1 already, so I ended up seeing episode 2 first
Very bad idea. Brain still hurts now.
