We invented (off the top of my head, and apologies for any inaccuracies) rugby, a version of tennis, football, netball, rugby and cricket. And suck at all the aforementioned. Me especially.
You did not! Rugby was modernized and made popular by the english, but it was not invented by them... Aboriginals on either australia or New Zealand invented it, the brittish jsut brought it back to england. Apparantly Rugby was actualy a method of setteling disputes between villiages and clans ... a very good alternative to a war. ll thats what we shoudl ahve done ... got iraq and the states to play a game of rugby ... that would have been an amazing way to settle the dispute.

by the way by foot ball do you mean soccer (as we call it in north america) or the crappy rugby clone full of idots in big padding?

er no, Aboriginals where nomads.
Although they did have some ritual sports nothing so exstravigent.
AFL is what you are refering to, A.K.A Aussie Rules.
Basically consists of guys running around in shorts that are WAY to short kicking the ball, tackling each other and running around in circles. It looks really weird and confusing but its the only game I know thay they reward you for missing a goal. Rather then just having one goal we have two posts either side so if you miss and still get it in one of those posts you still get a point.

We are the only country that plays AFL, although some attemps have been made to spread the culture nothing has been taken up.
AFL is Australia's major sport

well i did say that it was modernized by the english, even if they were nomads they could still play a good game of rugby when ever two nomadic tribes were argueing about something ... well at least thats what i was told ... they used their own "primative/basic" form of rugby to solve conflicts rather then shed blood in dirrect combat ... though i have little doubt that people have died in these games ... it's probalby like our own native indians and Lacross ... peopel would take all kinds of grevious injuries and even kill themselves if they happened to wager their lives on a game. Great game but they took it a tad bit too seriously ... exspecialy when you have two teams of about 900 players on a 2 km feild ... pretty nuts.

skanks= Koori.
I'm half cast aboriginal, further more the company I work for is a government run agency that works in employing Aboriginals into full time jobs and getting them the skills they need. We deal with lots of cultural issues. I've learned alot about dream time, never heard anything about that.. However, if your sure I will ask around and find out if you want.

One thing I learnt is that Aboriginal tribes hate one another. Note lack of past tense, there is still lots of racial differences. The local group are Noongars and hold racially prejudiced against myself and my family for being Koori. The idea of them playing rugby seems silly. They communicated via ritual dances where they told stories thru movements, there were in truth very primitive living as part of the land rather then trying harvest the land.

meh sure if you want to. Maybe my coach was wrong about rugby being used to settle disputes ...

thats one of the things i liked about the aboriginals ... from the documentaries i've watched they never tried to delude themselves by thinking they were permanent, they knew we are only temprory beings and we'll be gone one day (by we i mean humanity as a whole).

though i never knew that different tribes hated each other. Well you learn something new every day.
