been following since _Weck die Toten!_....and yes, they rock flat to the ground.

The techno elements are a lot more pronounced on their latest, _Sunder ohne Zugel_ (there should be a bunch of umlauts in there, but my keyboard aint leet enough for that), which, really, anyone who digs truly original music should check out. They've managed to avoid falling into both the traps of doctrinaire folk/folk-metal sterility and retreaded technothrash, and the resulting blend of traditional and modernistic styles also sounds really neat.

I have an In Extremo video in the near-term queue, but Disney's got to, like, put Sen to Chihiro in stores before I can get rolling on it proper.

The recent popularity of German metal and prog-metal bands in North America I find somewhat puzzling but at the same time very positive.

I mean, what does your average non-German-speaking guy see in it? Actually, that's what pleases me - seems that all these folks are listening to it as music, and taking the voice as just another instrument, which I find a good thing.

I appreciate the input these guys are bringing to the music scene, but personally I never get interested - my mind, musically, is elsewhere, and I know German too well to be mystified by the lyrics  (though I'm not really fluent)

If anything, I like the fact that these German bands are preserving a distinctly European style in their music. I've seen one too many bands from Europe imitate all that's good and bad and awful in American music, but a few of these German guys, rammstein and the like, stay clearly European. Musical references to both classical European and modern euro-dance music get a big hooray from me :)

Well, I have a parted opinion about In Extremo.
On the one hand the sound is unique and simply rocks, on the other hand the lyrics and melodys are either "stolen" or, is self-composed, they suck.

By "stolen" I mean that the lyrics are very common here, from Orff's Carmina Burana or other traditional songs.

Nevertheless I love listening to In Extremo, one of my favorite bands BTW.

If you are into German metal, you may also check out "Betray My Secrets".
Also very unique style, combining English, German and Ethnic lyrics.
Unfotunately the label went bankrupt, so you have to rely on kazaa or winMX.
