... i gues syou don't sharpen your knives ... a serated blade will cut well longer then a straight edge, but a sharp straight edge makes a far neater, faster and deeper cut ... have you ever played with brand new x-acto blades? Belive me, there are few things that cut flesh faster then those. i agree, a serated blade inflicts a far more greivous wound, thats great if you have the time to do that ... if not and your intrested in a quick, "clean" kill use a straight edge. Plus have you ever sharpened serated blades? you need to use a rat tail sharpener and it takes fucking hours ... besides the only reason to have serations on anything other then a steak knife as i see it would be for intimidation or to use the knife as a make-shift saw ... theyre pretty danm well pointless other wise. But thats my opinion, go a head use serated knives if you like them so much.Hoeya wrote:Serration will make the wound deeper than an ordinairy blade. If you have ever used a serrated knife, you will notice it cuts meat much more quickly because a single cut is deeper and requires less effort than a straight edged knife of the same size. A serrated sword would cut flesh deeper(and thus, incapacitating better) than a normal blade because of the way it is made.

I myself use a broad sword... There is a place in my mall that sells blades
But I don' t know where to find a Katana. I guess a Katana is nice for smaller people, I would think do you Cosplayers just use Fake Sword. Hell you don't need a blade if you don't mean to pull it out of the sheath, just a nice handle to stick out.
So to answer you question I don't know, I just like other swords.

really you like broad swords too eh? what kind are you into? Do you like those massive 30lb ones that were designed to be used from horse back, or do you like the managable ones that you can actulay use on foot with out throwing your back out picking the thing up.
katanas aren't jsut great for small people, but theyre just great, very quick and elegant weapons, and very effective, you can hack a person's arm off quite easily when the things sharp.

Not sure I never researched em, a friend of mine a while back started blacksmithing as a hobby (don't ask) and he gave me a few of his early creations, They are pretty damn heavy about 20 to 25 pounds made from scrap metal. But they are good for exercising with.
He also gave something pretty sweet. It's bascially a big ass hook (by hook think the dud in "I know what you did last summer, only 10 time bigger) with a sword type handle. It's not a very useful weapon but pretty cool looking. I got a bunch of weird crap in the garage.
So basically I just use what ever he sends me. He hasn't made Katana's so therefore I have not used one.
Yes I have a lot of weird friends...
