Storyboard, but I'm very open to serendipitous moments.
I print lyric sheets for the song I'm working with, but I really only end up using about 60% of the clips I think I'm going to, it seems.
There's always a surprise or 10 waiting to be discovered once I start dropping things on the timeline that are just waiting to be discovered, and I usually go with those.
Planning ahead is good, but don't close your mind to new ideas just because you wrote somethig down ahead of time.
I do then to stick to my original concept though, even if I use different clips to do it.
which do you prefer....

It's all in my head.
That probably why my videos suck
Last year I started writing down my ideas in a notebook, because I was having so many come to me. Of course, now I don't know what I did with the notebook.
*drops lighter* Hahaha, Trogdor strikes again.

Everyone is not the same as you.
