Well, what do you guys and girls think?

Post by HolyVampire32 » Sat Apr 26, 2003 10:17 am

Synch Point: DigiCharat Movie and Leave it to Piyoko!

Bandai Entertainment: Witch Hunter Robin.

ADV Films: Final Fantasy Unlimited, Azumanga Daioh, Neon Genesis
Evangelion Directors Cut and Abenobashi Magical Shopping District.

Pioneer: Mahoromatric Season 2 and Haibane Renmei (Macross Zero was unofficially mentioned at another Panel as well).

<sources of into: Me and http://www.animenewsnetwork.com>

Some great anime title have been picked up like Witch Hunter Robin (I saw the trailer it kicked ass) and Final Fantasy Unlimited so my question is

1) What's company would be able to bring the latest anime to America and to the subbing (and possibly the dubbing) well?

2) Who would give the best extras, reversible covers est.?

3) What's the next big anime title that you think is going to get picked up?

4) What's the next anime title you think should get picked up?

(Note: IF you respond, please number your answers so I know which question you’re answering)

Any company with money to buy the latest anime and the time and interest to dub and sub it well. :? Sort of a dumb question you asked there. Was there a point to it?

2) Who would give the best extras, reversible covers est.?

As always it depends largely on what they can get from the Japanese parent company.

3) What's the next big anime title that you think is going to get picked up?

Probably Wolf's Rain and Last Exile.

4) What's the next anime title you think should get picked up?

Doesn't matter, most everything get licensed eventually anyway, unless it is overlong and overly Japanese (i.e. Hikaru no Go)

I disagree with the person above. The liscencing companies seem to have a trend as far as quality goes. For instance I have no faith in Manga video. Theyve been known to change the meaning of entire speaches in there subs and there dubs are even worse.

As far as dubbing Ive always trusted ADV to bring in their great team of voice actors. which %90 percent of the time are the Eva Dub cast.

2) Who would give the best extras, reversible covers est.?

Synchpoint is pretty good with that, but they are struggling heavily so dont be suprised if the entire series isnt released in america or at least over a great period of time. (Im STILL waiting for Im gonna be an angel Vol 2.) But of course ADV is into the collocters boxes now. often with a free t-shirt or other such things. And boy do i love a good free t-shirt!

3) What's the next big anime title that you think is going to get picked up?

God I hope its Naruto. Just saw episode 30 and its hands down my favorite anime to date.

4) What's the next anime title you think should get picked up?

See quistion 3 :)

Wow... I'm surprised that Abenobashi Mahou Shotengai got picked up. I wouldn't have thought that anything like that would appeal to a... commercial market. I love the series so far though (3/4 eps in). very funny.

And Haibane? *dances* Excellent.

And this is a good thing in your opinion o_O? I personally thought the Eva dub was craptastic.

 ...really? i thought the eva dub was well done...compared to things that are really crap anyways
and they didn't leave out any information in the dub translation that i can think of (then again i don't know japanese but i could watch it in jap with eng sub and the subtitles change to translations of the jap to eng)
and the characters didn't sound dumb when they talked, i'm definately a fan of the eva dub

what didn't you like about it?
If you're reading this, you've gone too far...PREPARE FOR RETRIBUTION!!
Don't judge an AMV by it's anime.. u nooB ;D

So far the best dub that I've heard is that of Cowboy Bebop

Varies, partly because seen some groups dub one anime well, then f--- up another

2) Who would give the best extras, reversible covers est.?
I admit I haven't seen many bonus featurs on anime DVDs, but I've found Bandai generally has some good add-ons...probably companies with a lot better, just going with what I've seen

3) What's the next big anime title that you think is going to get picked up?My money's also on Wolf's Rain for this

4) What's the next anime title you think should get picked up?
While I like Wolf's Rain, I personally want to see them bring over Overman King Gainer.

Because I saw the sub first and after that the English voice actors made me cringe with how bad they are in comparison.
