I think this goes here... CD Troubles

Post by Brsrk » Tue Apr 29, 2003 8:35 pm

I'm having problems with my CD/DVD drives not reading a particular CD... All it does is click and keep searching and come up with nothing...

Any info would be good (yes, everything does work properly...)

Well, not everything works properly if you're having trouble.

LOGICAL FLAW SIRS.

Anyway, have you tried an ASPI layer installer? Maybe it like died, or something I don't know.

Can this CD be read on other computers?

And have you tried Start, Run, typing in your CD/DVD drive letter(s) and hitting Enter?

If that fails, try wiping the CD off.

hold the CD up to the light (burned side facing you, top facing away) and look at the coloured dye. Inspect it for any chips or holes. The problem you're describing sounds like a read fail, usually as a result of a gap in the protective coating. This prevents the laser reflecting back properly, and the Drive pauses the system while it checks, and rechecks, and rechecks, and so on. Since it isnt getting any results, it usually wont stop reading the disc all on its own.

What kind of bottom disc is it? I had a same problem with my pc. It doesn't read black bottom discs. It can read any other type of discs, 'cept black bottoms.
