You remind me of PDperfection on the issue of japanese. He feels that if its in english that its better. He accepts what is put in front of him and he refuses to see anything else. Also he hates watching animes in japanese. Im not saying your exactly like him but that statement just reminded me of something he would say.
Well the translation IS Please Teacher in English that is...and the DVD is English. I don't think there's anything at all wrong with calling it by it's English translation (or it's Japanese).

To leathel's defense, I don't call Neon Genesis Evangelion or the Vision of Escaflowne, Shinseki no Evangelion or Tenkuu no Escaflowne. I guess that latter is a bad example since it doesn't translate to "vision" :-P

In general conversation, though do you say, "Well, I was watching Neon Genesis Evangelion and Vision of Escaflowne," or do you just say "evangelion" and "escaflowne" or even more pared down (as I refer to them) "eva" and "esca"?

And I agree with Alucard_Fon, I find that I typically refer to titles in Japanese if that was the first form I learned. Even after I have a domestically released DVD sitting in front of my with the english title.

Please Teacher is still Onegai teacher, Ah! My Goddess is still Ah! Megami-sama...etc...

Yup...I say Eva and Esca just like you...same goes for Kenshin, Bebop and "AMG" :-P

No, I do the same, I call "Voice of a Distant Star" Hoshi no Koe since that's what I heard first. I totally agree with you there. I was only replying since MAS had the overtones of hostility there (although he does put caution at the end). I was just defending Leathal since there is no "right" way to say a title's name...be it the english translation, original japanese or a chopped nickname.

What about Anime that aren't out in America?
Usually the only kinds you can find are either the wrong Region Code, no subtitles in english, or Bootlegs.
So if you want to watch the series, and you don't speak Japanese, you either have to download it (with unremovable subs, bad for AMVs) or pay for a bootleg, which will probably be better quality.
I really wanna make an Azumanga Daioh vid, and cropping out the subs on some downloaded crappy footage isn't sounding too good right now.

To stick to the topic, bootleg dvds are gay...

You be big and fat loser for getting them. Get a job, be a REAL person and not some shmuck hiding behind his "poor" excuse... My job doesn't even pay that much but I still have anime DVDs by the kilo...

[let's just say I don't count them... ^_^]

and if it sux0rs the b0x0rs, well, you delete them... why keep shitty anime anyway? ^_^

Not to get off topic again but I like saying Onegai Teacher a how lot more than Please Teacher. I have always known it meant please but Onegai sounded better. I really hope Onegai Teacher 2 has alteast something to do with Kei and Mizuho although from what Ive read off the official site, it has nothing to do with them . To the subject of bootlegs, I have never bought bootlegs so I have no clue to their quality, I stick to either domestic releases or japanese releases.
