Yup, you'd be 100% correct on this. TV resolution is (at least) 4x lower than that of your computer, so running a 720x480 DVD file in 320x240 TV res isn't gonna show anything.Zarxrax wrote:You can't really tell shitty quality dvds on a tv usually, because tvs hide the problems well. What does everyone think of bootlegs?

For 'better' read 'directly ripped'. Even more illegal and just as damaging to the industry. I also have a friend who always buys Hong Kong stuff. I congratulate you on your choice to buy FLCL officially. Supporting the industry is a Good Thing.Zarxrax wrote:The video quality is NOT perfect if they crammed 26 eps onto 3 discs.
That bootleg might have been one of the better ones, but with bootlegs, you never really know what you're getting till you get it, and they are usually crappy. Also they are illegal :\

Totally 100% agree. Bootlegs hurt the industry just as much as digital distribution. The company doesn't get a cent. I also applaud supporting the industrySavia wrote:For 'better' read 'directly ripped'. Even more illegal and just as damaging to the industry. I also have a friend who always buys Hong Kong stuff. I concur. To stay on topic, in the end, it's a moral decision. Since morals are not the same from person to person, it's something you have to decide on your own. Personally, I wouldn't buy bootlegs, except in a situation like Mr Oni posted where the commercial release is crap. If you're gonna rip off the industry, you may as well just download stuff. Either way the anime companies don't make any money, but if you download, at least the bootleggers don't either.MAS PRODUCTIONS wrote:I really wish they would have kept the name "Onegai" Teacher. I just noticed that the company offering prizes for TommyRude's 80's AMV contest does bootlegs.
I half-considered pully out at that point, but it would only be a problem if I actually won. And after looking through the site, I saw things that would never be released in the US, like a few Kamen Rider shows and some sentai stuff as well. If I win, it'll be something awfully obscure that I would choose as a prize.
I've never paid for a bootleg, and have no intention to start. All my DVDs are legit.

Yeah IIRC all their Region 1 discs are Hentai. I guess you could get those and...donate them to HitoriRichLather wrote:I just noticed that the company offering prizes for TommyRude's 80's AMV contest does bootlegs.

You remind me of PDperfection on the issue of japanese. He feels that if its in english that its better. He accepts what is put in front of him and he refuses to see anything else. Also he hates watching animes in japanese. Im not saying your exactly like him but that statement just reminded me of something he would say.leathelanime wrote:I'd rather say Please Teacher because I never heard of Onegai teacher until I picked up Please Teacher...therefor I call it please teacher

I just prefer Onegai Teacher because that's what it was when I watched it, so that's what I call it.MAS PRODUCTIONS wrote:You remind me of PDperfection on the issue of japanese.
