What does everyone think of bootlegs?
I have the Cowboy Bebop collection in my bookshelf by my bed, so I can wake up, run my fingers through the 6 volumes, and sigh "this is mine."
My friend wanted to buy cowboy bebop, but he didnt have the money, so instead, he bought a bootleg. I told him not to, because it was going to be crappy and of bad quality, but he bought it anyways. Three weeks later, it came, and I was proven wrong. THe bootleg had the cover of the Perfect Collection, and had all 26 episodes in three discs. It had everythiong, the menus and all. It even ahd all the extras. Sound and video quality was perfect, and the only difference was the addition of chinese subtitles (you can take them off if you want). ANd it only cost him $30. it cost me 6 times that amount for my collection, and well, I was jealous. I had mixed feelings. I could save alot of money and buy this perfect replica, or the othe way, buy them all. I kept telling him that there is a certain pride in having a wall filled with DVDs, but I cringe when i think of how much money is on that wall, and how much I could have saved.
I had the option of ether buying FLCL bootleg, or the DVDs. The DVDs were around $30, and had two epsiodes in each, and the bootleg had it all for $12... I bought the expensinve one though... for my colletion.
So.... what is your opinion?

DVDs can hold alot of information in it, and it was perfect qiality. we even hooked two tvs and two DVD playes and played mine and his at the same time, and i couldnt tell them apart. Ive seen some bootleg that really does look shitty, but this was clear as water.

Well, anyway, I really don't like bootlegs. One reason is the covers and stuff ususally suck. They look like they were scanned in and then mass produced. I don't even like having burned copies of cds...

Hmm well I have the Inu yasha hong kong Dvds only because I am comletley disasatified with Vizs commercial release. I don't like the subs and I don't like the dub. I have bought every Ranma tape viz has released at the ripoff prices they wanted I don't feel guilty in any way for watching a better subbing job done by chinese
That's pretty sad
