While I cannot view AVIs or RM at work (network security blocks installations of outside software) I will download it and give a look.
RM requires a proprietary viewer that tries to colonize your computer. I don't like using that sort of thing.
What's wrong with WMV? Same sort of streaming format with none of the RealMedia hassle.
Oh, and I have a 56K dialup as well, so I know the pains associated with long download times. For what it's worth, downloading two DBZ videos in RM equals one high-quality XviD AMV. There are some who'd say that's more'n a fair tradeoff.
I'd swear I've had this conversation before. Oh wait, I have.

well whenever i can i try to get an avi up along with the rm, but its not always possible. I don't like wmv because of the presets for the quality, or atleast thats the way the windows media encoder i have works, and even at the highest quality settings the audio always sounds like crap in wmv. I know and understand peoples complaints about rm, with the spyware and all, but i don't really care if they see what i'm doing, i have nothing to hide. By the way, i am also a 56k user, i will d/l large avi/mpeg files if they aren't local, so that way i can use a resume d/l program, otherwise large files always have to wait until i can get on a friends computer that has dsl or cable.

I do have a big problem with WMV, I just don't like em' cause basicly all of them are from creators that have Window Movie maker, and I think 90% of them are very very Low in Quality, maybe some are HQ, but it all depends on how they encode, I once encoded a DBZ Movie, do to my Video card that was only 2Mb, and I wanted to watch it, but the results were good, good sound, almost exact and great video. But i forgot what setting I put in it, and plus I try almost every single setting on WME, and the final was my best of all.
RM may have spyware and all, but there programs that can solve that little problem, like lets a FIREWALL! Zone Alarm is a very good Fire wall that may help you out, they can't take your info to there main computer, they must go to Zone Alarm first, and I think thats very Difficult to go threw, many companies use it, well maybe little companies. But is worth buying it.
When ever I download AVI/MPEG I just go to my friends house and also use his DSL, and then I watch it, and some MV's migth be so HQ but sometimes there not just worth downloading, so why waste 3 hours of downloading a AMn thats not worth watching at all, only cause of the quality?.. I wouln't. In dragonballarena.com on there Archives they have many AMV's, but not all of them are good, almost all of them are HQ but not all of them are good to download. I like,a Cowboy bebop Mv very well done, and I think it's a very well done MV, I forgot what is called. But maybe that production is a member of this forum. Not sure though, and I also forgot the production.

Dragonball Arena, which I assume is the italian/english site, has tons of great non DBZ amvs to download. I think they do a non DBZ anime feature once in a while and choose some pretty high quality amvs.Master_O_Trunks wrote:In dragonballarena.com on there Archives they have many AMV's, but not all of them are good, almost all of them are HQ but not all of them are good to download.

yes we know is NON-DBZ MV, the quality does't matter, what it matter is the way they create them, hell I have only seen a couple that were actually great done. They may be HQ, but not the best for me, from the Cowboy Bebop feature, i only like 50% of the MV's tehre, some were great but not all of them.Castor Troy wrote:Dragonball Arena, which I assume is the italian/english site, has tons of great non DBZ amvs to download. well don't worry to much about it, the website had problems in the middle of the contest and they had to postpone the remainder of the contest, they are still waiting to finish it up.Rozard wrote:No, you don't understand. While it does relate to your thread, I was actually laughing at that other thread. I had completely forgotten about it! Thanks RichLather!BTW, I entered a video into that competition and never heard anything back....<
