Are fake movie trailers considered as AMV (besides the fact that AMV stands for Anime MV)?

Not really, although ppl post non-anime stuff anyways ._.

As for anime trailers (which have a place here) AX doesn't even consider them AMVs and doesn't allow them in the contest @_@ They are parodies not music videos.

Otakon has the same rules, IIRC. They do sort of have a separate category/event for them, though. Other places, like Katsu, do allow them, and they occasionally win

As stated, I believe it does count since it does use anime and is using a music of sorts.
