Is this bootleg? (Looking for Azumanga Daioh DVD)

Post by ProdigySim » Mon Apr 21, 2003 8:32 pm

I really want a non-bootleg version of Azumanga Daioh.
Are there any non-bootleg yet somewhat cheap places to buy an Azumanga Daioh DVD set?
Explaining all the Japanese jokes in the subs would be nice.

Is this site using Bootlegs? http://store.yahoo.com/crosstoy/dvd-455a.html

Or this one? http://store.yahoo.com/abctoy4me/azbo3andv.html

Or how about this $50 site? http://store.yahoo.com/avspecial/aztvserbox3d.html

if you see the word 'region free' then you know it is a bootleg.
So in other words, one part of the community is waging war on another part of the community because they take their community seriously enough to want to do so. Then they tell the powerless side to get over the loss cause it's just an online community. I'm glad people make so much sense." -- Tab

Another sign of bootlegs:

Chinese subtitles. Unless it's a Chinese series, it should just have Japanese and English.
I'm out...

My guess would be about 1 year from now, maybe about 1.5 if they dont give it top priority, 2 or more if it gets low priority...

Actually, I think Australian Anime distributor Madman may have licensed Azumanga Daioh. It is not 100 percent confirmed and it may be they are waiting for a U.S. company to license it as well. But if they don't take assistance from AD Vision or whoever, the Australian Region 4 DVDs may be out before the Region 1s, shockingly. :D www.animeondvd.com's licensing list is useful for finding out what Animes are slated to be released in the U.S. The info about Madman licensing Azumanga Daioh is on www.animeondvd.com's forums. I just saw the other post here, but the link for www.animeondvd.com's Convention news doesn't work. I don't know, maybe it'll work later. It hasn't been added to their big licensing list yet though... odd.
