What can you tell me about Rah Xeplon?

Post by the Black Monarch » Wed Apr 16, 2003 1:36 am

I saw an ad for it that was vaguely Eva-ish, with the whole "god/mecha awakens" theme going on, and someone said on one of the boards that it "kicks Eva's ass in every way possible" or something like that.

Who here has seen the whole series, and what can you tell me about it?

I think it's spelt Rah Xephon. I'm not sure what it's about exactly because I got confused after watching the first episode. :| I haven't seen further than that so sorry I can't tell you much about it.

big screaming floating things with beam noises.
could be fun...

Don't trust anyone who bleeds blue. :P

(It's funny.. I live in St. Louis.. Out hockey team is The Blues. The little slogan aroudn the city is "BLEED BLUE" - meaning, be as big a fan as you can.. but I saw RahXephon and was like "Wow, what a fan!" :P )

So far I've learned nothing about the show on this thread except that I mistook someone else's typo for the correct spelling. Oh, and someone bleeds blue.

Come on, can't you guys tell me anything more?

I've seen parts of it, but I'll just do something quick and grab a review for it:
Charles Solomon wrote:This imaginative 2002 TV series is vastly superior to creator Yutaka Izubuchi's muddled Gasaraki (1997). High school student and aspiring artist Kamina stumbles into a parallel world after a subway accident. The Tokyo of 2015 that he knows has been hidden in a way that causes time to pass more slowly--it's 12 years later than he believed. The outer world is engaged in a war fought with giant mecha that use sound as a weapon--and in which Kamina will play a key role. Everyone in this world recognizes him as the "Ollin," and when Reika, a girl he's painted, leads Kamina to a gigantic egg, the splendid mecha RahXephon hatches from it and bonds with Kamina. The premise recalls Dual! Parallel Trouble Adventure, but RahXephon is better plotted and executed, with more engaging characters and strikingly original mecha designs. (Rated 15 and older: violence, brief nudity, minor profanity, alcohol use)
Hope that answers your question.

Despite the similarities, it's a lot different from EVA.

Little shpeel ahead:

The city of Tokyo has been overthrown, taken over by Invaders who have devastated the rest of the planet. For 15 years, the remnants of the human race have fought a losing battle against the Mu and their Dolem, knowning that the ket to victory lies within the domed walls of Tokyo Jupiter, where time flows in a different path and none of the mind-wiped citizens even know that the city has been conquered. But no one has been able to get into Tokyo. Until now. Prepare for the ultimate paradigm shift as one young man learns the horrifying secret in RahXephon.

Music also plays a large role in the anime too. I saw the first ep. due to Newtype magazine, and just got the first DVD today.
