lookin for effects

i got this video it's the chobits with the song heaven remix i want to know how to do some of the effects used on that video... i have adobe premiere 6.0 and that's all i use.. i know there is a lot of other programs to use.. but i am unsure of what to use please any help will be greatly appreciated

thanks.. well.. i guess it's play time with effects in adobe then.. guess i will take a small vid and use a ton of effects and see what happens..

?? bad idea to get a small clip and use effect's to learn how they operate?? or bad idea to use a lot of effect's on a video.. i dont like a lot of effects on a small number of frames.. but i wanna get used to the filters n stuff.. unless someone wants to tell me how each filter works

but i wanna learn myself.. just need some guidance

It's a bad idea to just say "ooh shiny effects" and start applying them just because they look nice. If you do that then you end up with crap like this.

It doesn't matter if you're just learning what each effect does -- read the documentation if you want to know what they visually look like.

Then, before you do anything to the timeline, decide what that effect will do for you in terms of the video concept and plot. Does it really make a difference? Does it mean anything? Will it fit with the music? What additional meaning can I convey with this effect?

And so forth.

Picking effects like a kid in a candy store is the way to the Dark Side. Don't do it.

have you seen chobits heaven?? the lens flare and the adding of partial squares is what i am lookin for.. i wont make a whole vid usin a ton of filters.. no no no no.. hate vids like that.. but i have made a few using other amv's.. they came out decent.. but it was the other amv that had them effect's usually.. i want to make mine special and good.. i am the hardest to please..i have seen some that everyone was saying "drool" and i was like eh.. i dont have any doc's on adobe.. prolly should look some up on the net..

Yes, I've seen it. Many times. If you looked at the video, you'd notice that my opinion is also on there.

I also don't really like the effect work on it. It's nice the first few times around, but beyond that, it's like "meh". I just don't see what it really adds to the video. (OmniStrata will now kick my ass...)

What I AM saying is that the videos that make people go "drool" don't necessarily even use filters. You should really consider what you're doing before you even look at the effect panel.

Oh yeah. I have to give you the obligatory "begone, pirate".

hehe ok i deserve the begone pirate.. i got the chobits-heavon vid from a p2p server.. so i didnt get to see any comments.. but.. the flare and them squares were really cool i thought.. because it was in good spots.. at least there wasnt filter after filter after filter used.. i like some transitions.. or something to fill in some spaces.. ok.. nuff from the dreaded pirate...
