Goddamn, one typo and the whole meaning of my post is changed!the Black Monarch wrote: Having no Y chromosome results in death. The human body cannot survive without X chromosomes.
That should have said X both times. My apologies.
Ask me about my secret stash of videos that can't be found anywhere anymore.

Also, yes, the Y technically just is a space filler and serves no other real purpose.

Okay. I'll just ask. Where are you getting that? And what kind of evolutionary theory produces an entire chromosome with nothing but junk DNA? Parts of chromosomes of course, but the whole thing? Where is this coming from?

Probably College Biology and a text book. The Y chromosome is a space filler and encodes for nothing, a lot of DNA is actually junk. And the number was wrong, it's one in every 500-1,000 male births according to the site listed above. The Y chromsome does in fact code for nothing, hell it has no genetic basis to encode for things that females coudl otherwise not recieve. And evolution states that the genetics have gotten more complex but that doesn't mean coding. The Y chromsome is a space filler, hell it can't even be used to determine if one is male because some women have it but it is a piece on the X chromosome (the SrY gene) that identifies the subject as male and tells the body to encode for a male (as all fetuses are essentially female at first but then are activated otherwise. Even the SrY gene isn't a true identifier of sex as it can be inactive and thus even though a woman has a Y chromsome she will still be female if that thing is inactive. So the Y chromsome doesn't even encode for male, it's a small gene on the X chromsome.SarahtheBoring wrote:The Wired Knight wrote:One out of every 2,000 men recieve Klinefeler's syndrome. So in other words, one part of the community is waging war on another part of the community because they take their community seriously enough to want to do so. Then they tell the powerless side to get over the loss cause it's just an online community. I'm glad people make so much sense." -- Tab

No need to be such a cocky bastard, TWK, nor to repeat yourself (BTW, that kind of undoes that whole "I'm smarter than you, idiot" thing
).
Point taken. Again, I've been out of college for a million years and have avoided all science due to the lasting scars of failing to get into vet school.
No need to be a bastard, but thank you for the refresher course. Twice.
