Chromosomes
I just got my chromosomes tests back and its quite amazing and very surprising. The report says that i am XXY. that's not normal, i think, because most people either have XX or XY.
If you're wondering what the Y is, it's a small y-shaped chromosome that is present in all males, it's what tells the cells to develope human male organs.
And no Rachel, don't even think about what ever you were goign to say cause the Y doesn't matter in my case. The extra information, my doctor tells me, comes from a problem during metaphase which did not fully seperate.
The doc says Y chromosomes in girls as well as boys is more comom then most people think. and the presence of the y chromosome in a girl may result in her having different eye colors in each eye.
So, i'm wondering if you guys have had your chromosomes done and what are they.

0_0, well depending on what differences this extra chromosome did to you, you may actually top my deformity.

I would assume male, according to what lyrs said.
Actually, I remember something about this from Bio.
When you have an extra "x" chromosome (I think in all cases the person is male) the gender properties are reduced in an individual.
When mapping chromosomes, they always come in pairs. The 23rd (last) pair determines a persons sex. If an extra "x" chromosom is present, the effects of the "y" chromosome are "diluted" (for lack of a more suitable word) Developmentally this means that the individual will be no different from any other child in pre-pubesence. Less testosterone will be produced than in most males once they start to go through puberty, though. This means the physical build of a person with an extra chromosome will be less "manly". There is also some issue with impotence, but this is all I remember.
I beleive the medical term for this is along the lines of Kline something.
