<a href="http://komo1000news.com/audio/kvi_airch ... ">Funny</a>.

A peacenik arguing with an Iraqi exile on a talk radio show. The chap is slightly insultive, but I can see why.

ROFL. I love the way they chew her up.
So in other words, one part of the community is waging war on another part of the community because they take their community seriously enough to want to do so. Then they tell the powerless side to get over the loss cause it's just an online community. I'm glad people make so much sense." -- Tab

question, if the US could have sent in a lone gunman with a sniper rifle to pick off saddam and save us the trouble of a war would they have done so?

Doing a surgical removal of power like that would be a worse idea than any of the techniques and methods we used. It would have potentially set off a bloody power struggle in Iraq, probably culminating in civil war. The infrastructure would've been destroyed, many people would've died, and it'd be years, even decades, of chaos, atrocity, and bloodshed. In the geopolitical spectrum, it'd be worse for us (and our image isn't too pretty right now). It's one thing for a lone citizen (or even a private, conspirical group) to pull off an assassination of their own will and desire. It's quite another to have it blessed, endorsed, and especially ordered by a foreign government.

So I'd say it's pretty certain the US intelligence and military community had daydreams of that, but it would never be seriously considered or put into effect.

yeah, besides it would give other political powers that doing that would be OK for other countries. Like this one.
