I use videomach for the most part, and it has NO effects, and people generally seem to like my vids (not all, but many). But then again, Euphoria is my favorite vid ever, which uses mass amounts of effects. I personally agree with the statement that its all just footage, if it looks good it looks good, all a matter of personal preference.

Effects are a way of creating interesting visuals to me, just one tool to use. Pacing and timing and scene and song choice are just as important to me.

Effects are convenient to have around when the source footage is uncooperative, or non-existant.

Yah, I yelled that way too often.

My source footage eventually staged a full-blown revolt against me by being difficult and interlacing itself in funny ways.

Oh, wait, that's just the way Eva is. Nevermind
