I'm curious as to why there is still confusion here. Rei II died in that explosion and then they create Rei III.

Well like I originally said..Kaji...but since that's wrong my guess is Toji since there are only like 2 other boys that are her age in the show. If not a boy, I'd hate to say this, but Hikari...once again the argument being they're similar in age.

The scene starts out with Asuka waking up and realizing that she had slept with Toji. She then goes to the bathroom where she discovers a "reminder" of the night before in her mouth

As for the deleted scenes...
They are not deleted scenes. At the same time Gainax was producing Death, they were also making extra scenes for episodes 21 - 24. The scenes that were finished during the production of Death were added to the film. I have heard that the reason that the extra scenes were not in the US release is because Gainax wanted to sell the license to the extra scenes along with Death & Rebirth. ADV couldn't buy both the series and the movies so they decided to produce the dvds as they were seen during their initial release.

I'd maybe search on kazaa or something (shrug). I've only seen them since my friend did a sub of it way back when with all the deleted scenes in the correct places. It was cool .

Which ending do you prefer, is it episodes 25 & 26, or do you prefer EOE, i myself prefer the original ending, as it ended the series nicely

If forced to choose between the two, I'd say the movie, because it happens in the real world and makes a lot of things much more clear.
If I want to go on a nonsensical acid trip through someone's head without knowing what's happening in reality, I'll find a mushroom, thank you very much.
However, the movie is not without complaints from me, and I think an ending like that of Episode 24 would have been more suitable.

Well from what I have *heard*, Episodes 25 and 26 are Anno's true ending and afterwards there was a HUGE backlash from the fans since they disliked his character driven (no "what happened") ending (the part of the fans hating it, is true). However, at the same time, it's been debated that the reason it's so "f'ed up" is b/c Anno was angry at the fans rejecting his "true" ending. I've heard people say Asuka saying "Kimochi wa Warui" (I feel sicked/disgusted) is really Anno talking to the audience since he was somewhat forced by the fans to make a movie he didn't want to. Either way, it's what I heard.

I've heard the same thing. I also heard was that Anno had originally wanted to do something like the movie, but time and money wouldn't let him, so he jumped at the chance to make the ending he'd wanted to make. I've yet to hear from Anno himself on what the real story is.

1. She says she THINKS she "must be" the third one because she doesn't remember what happened to her. But after an explosion like that, you'd be likely to have memory loss too.
2. That's in the movie, after she picks up Gendo's glasses. But why do they all appear to be holding glasses (at least that's how it looks to me) if there's only one pair to pick up?
3. And conveniently, there are also three Evas with dummy plugs. Hmmm...
