WMV audio extraction

does anyone know of a program with which i can extract audio from a .wmv file? i have a quote from an altered version of Bush's State of the Union address that i want to use in a splash.

btw, the quote goes: "We can be summed up in one word: evil."

it's pretty tricky to get the audio and/or video from .wmv files and convert them to something else.. all thanks to microsoft.

ppl have recommended using a program called GraphEdit to do this, which is found at www.doom9.org. the guides for converting .wmv files have been taken down at doom9, so ur best chance would be to type something like "GraphEdit wmv" in search engines, and to experiement with GraphEdit. a little more info on this program can be found at the doom9 forum.. i just PM'd a user on this forum named Mechaman, who seems to know someting about GraphEdit and extracting .wmv files from this thread.

meanwhile, i'll keep trying it out in GraphEdit..

You could also extract the audio with a program called Goldwave.

its sort of a non-professional way of doing it. But you can import the .wmv into premiere or something, delete the video portion of it, and then just have a pictureless video by which you can then pull into a video editor and use if you need to.

Premiere doesn't support WMV format. He would have to convert it to some form of AVI or MPEG.

hmm.. i'm interested in this Goldwave thing.

well, i finally figured out how to convert wmv/mpg/asf files to avi, and then extract the audio from it.

i used GraphEdit to compose a graph from one of my "corrupt" mpegs into an avi, then it goes into VDub, which saves any part of the wav audio i want.

..ran it thru dBPowerAMP Music Converter and now i have an mp3 of the music box song from one of my favorite (non-anime) MVs. hard work and dedication feels good. 8)

You can do the same thing that goldwave does with the dbpoweramp software as explained in the guides...

and it doesn't cost any money.
