And I fix this problem, how?
So in other words, one part of the community is waging war on another part of the community because they take their community seriously enough to want to do so. Then they tell the powerless side to get over the loss cause it's just an online community. I'm glad people make so much sense." -- Tab

Win98 is a fucking security leak! Try to upgrade to Win2000 or if you are a hardcore gamer WinXP. If your hardware doesn't allow this WinNT is also a good choice. Or maybe Linux.

Needn't to be hackers. Windows itself is crap. Last time I tried to make Mozilla mail my standard mailing programm, WinXP deleted Mozilla completley from my harddrive, including the browser...
Bill Gates $%§" sucks, wish to have a rifle and stand close to him at these times...

You said you have Norton - only firewall or system works, too?
If you enabled Norton Trash Protection, you may restore the deleted files.
Norton firewall is the most powerful tool, only has problems if you use your PC as a network server. Set security to max and leave it this way - if a hacker can get through this, he can also get through Zonealarm.

And why the hell should hackers delete AMVs?
Normally they delete critical Windows files, although Windows is very good at doing that itself.

zone alarm is a go. and nortons got rid of around 5 infected files that PC-Cillin didn't. In otherwords, my comp sound be (after zona alarm is installed) a fortress for my files.

zone alarm's too resource-intensive for me, so i gotta keep an eye out for hackers using my seventh sense.

So says the delusional man who believes security is a product, not a process.

When stuff disappears... I remember when I lost a bunch of my avatars because of something like that. -_-
