Amen to that.

Anyway, back to the movie. As a big DBZ fan, I'm scared to death of it. If it's bad, I will associate it with the show for ever in my mind. If it's good... Well, it's a live action movie based on a show where everyone glows yellow and has big hair. What are the chances of that happening? :P

Why must americans take something with so much potential of being one of the best anime shows ever (talking mainly about DBZ) and turning it into an unspeakable evil by making it a live movie and casting it with such actors as DiCrapio (why dear lord?), Diez (not so bad), Chan (dont get me wrong, I love the guy), etc.... :?
I am your master!!
Bow down before me!!

In Jackie Chan's City Hunter, they have scenes with Jackie Chan playing Street Fighter Characters. His best scene EVAR! Anyone seen it?
I have seen that, and it was pretty cool.

Also, this talk of a live action DBZ movie is pretty much old. It is almost a year old. I read this just last May at dragonballtoys.com. Though, it obviously seems new to you people.

DBZ had the potential to be the best anime show ever? I don't recall ever seeing this potential (oh I can hear the flames roaring). Don't get me wrong, you're free to love the show, but I wouldn't go so far as to say "Best anime show ever." That's quite a bit more debateable than just DBZ.

Dubbed by the folks of Cartoon Network and (sarcasm) we know the insane amount they know about anime (/sarcasm).

Best anime show ever is debateable and in fact is being somewhat debated in the "Eva overrated." If you want to go buy viewer's (Japan) voting (which makes sense since they are the ones who watching) it's either:

Neon Genesis Evangelion
Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind
Nadia: The Secret of Blue Water (I'm as shocked as you)
Gundam 079

These are the ones consistently in the top 10 (and near the top). Then again, with newer things I'm sure it's changed (namely Bebop).

yes thats true, just becasue masses of mindless people follow something dosn't make it the best ... it's just popular. Now i'm not trying to say that DB/DBZ fans are mindless ... it's just that anything thats overly popular is generaly like that because its followed by masses of people with the same mentality as sheep who are jsut hopping on the band waggon while it rolls by. Hell, you can say the same thing about Evangelion, there are lots of people who would viciously defend claims to Eva being the best anime of all time simply because other people say it's good with no reasons of their own. (and i am an eva fan too, i'm willing to admit that theres some really dumb eva fans).

Bravo! Totally agree. I love Evangelion and think it is a *great* anime, but I think at least 50% of the people just regurgitate that it's the greatest anime ever because everyone else says so. This is the case for a lot of things in entertainment be it music, movies, etc.

Although it makes Eva popular, I kind of don't like it at the same time. I'd rather have people *truly* enjoy something that I enjoy because that's more genuine. I won't say what anime, but there is a fairly popular anime that a lot of people like and I always go with the "why?" question and get half-assed or some times no answers. I don't think people realize just how influenced we are by other factors.

there is (or was) a magazine dedicated to DBZ that in one of their issues brought the subject of a live dbz movie up
it was released in Oct. of '02 and the article was entitled: "DBZ goes Hollywood! Casting Call: THe Votes are in!"
these were fanvotes, but someone did already said it, i just wanted to re-enforce it
They did make mention of a LOT of fan-choices for characters, some of them were as follows in this website (if it is still up, it was on the back of the magazine)
oh hell that's what it was. i just thought it was in one of my wizards since they do that kind of stuff. but yeah i think have that magazine but it wasn't as complete as the list you gave.
SQ wrote:I heard there's a live action video of Iria.. In fact, I've seen it.. The thing that gets me though, is that the live action one is a sequel.. Why would there eb an anime original, and then a sequel in live action? That just bugs me. If that wanted to make a sequel, why not make it anime... :?
i've seen it too but how could it be a sequal i mean zeiram was dead in the anime and she was still fighting it in the movie. unless they've re made another live action one, which i guess could make sense the one i watched was pretty old it seemed. what about guyver i haven't seen the anime and i know the two live action movies were pretty lame at times but i still liked them.

i don't see everyone's problem with dicaprio. i mean he may have sorta been a bit of a loss in things like titanic and i didn't really like romeo and juliet, but the beach wasn't as horrible as i thought it would be and the older movie he was in basketball diaries or something? and i can't wait to see gangs of new york.

chang, i don't think he made seven bad, although i do agree the ending maybe wasn't as good as the rest of his banter during the movie, what you have to think is how would you react just finding out this sick bastard just killed your wife and had her head delivered to the middle of nowhere for you to find. i would like to think i wouldn't act so stupid but i haven't been put in the situation soooo....

why does everyone think diaz can do a good 18? i swear to god if she tried to put on the whole persona of being serious and a hard ass she'd look how she always does in her movies. like an idiot. the only movie i thought she was good in was any given sunday, but i still don't think she could pull off 18. no way.
Fighting weak oponents leaves me feeling so empty inside.
