If I have to be a "hippie" in order to voice my opinion against the war than I will. I’m not as psycho as some of the other people who voice their opinions (*thinks about my art teacher, cringes). I don’t voice my opinion against the war because I hate those soldiers who are fighting; I dislike the government that controls them. Patriotism isn't defined as you agreeing with everything that your country says, rather that you love your country enough to protect it, even if it is from itself.
This is how I see this entire situation. I will know write a story type situation similar to how this all looks to me:
There are two men (America and Iraq) in a room both of who are staring the other down. This goes on for years but one day one of the men (America) is struck in the head from behind (9/11). Since this man never saw it coming he knows fears that it will happen again so he becomes paranoid and fears that the other man (Iraq) will do the same. So the man draws his gun and points it at the other man's head. In fear the other man backs into a corner fearing the worst. In this fear the man in the corner draws his gun and points it at the other man's head. Now both of these men are staring death in the eye but neither knows what to do. The children (those hippies you so fondly speak of) of the men come to their sides begging for neither to shoot. The men to tide up in their own pride decide to not listen to the children. Now that these two men have ignored their children the only thing holding them back is their own will powers. In fear one of the men speaks. "Drop your weapon and leave and I will spare your life". The man responds, "If I do that I will be homeless and what guarantees me that you won’t shoot me!" Again the men ready their weapons. As their stare each other down, friends come by in order to try and stop their lunacy. Neither listens because of their pride and continues to prepare to fire. The first man speaks again, “put down your weapon now or be killed". The other responds, "Why should I, I have done nothing wrong to you." In anger and fear the first man shoots the other man's shoulder. Wounded, the second man fires back.
This is where my little story ends; I hope you found it entertaining.
