I read it, and many of the reasons he lists for not going to war, are the same reasons people use for the need for war.

'sides....Bush doesn't take opinions from focus groups
It's a waste of time, this coming from a person who did try the paper and petition method (not that one) before realizing he's not going to listen. You'll have better luck getting real people from your home state to sign a paper one and presenting it to your ahem...elected officials in the house, senate and reps.

That's the way it is meant to be done, at least, with the democratic/republic blend of government. Local groups telling their localy elected representative what they feel on issues, then those ideas being brought to the House/Senate. That ensures that the majorities opinion (and the top 2 or 3 runners up) are presented to those in charges. Versus sending in petitions (that only represent 0.0001% of the population of the United States) to specific high ranking officials.MistyCaldwell wrote:You'll have better luck getting real people from your home state to sign a paper one and presenting it to your ahem...elected officials in the house, senate and reps.

NOw, I agree that it probably is a waste of time. But you never know unless you try. At least I am willing to try by taking the time to type my name and e-mail address. It doesn't matter, by the way, if Bush won't care about it, this isn't being sent to Bush, it's being sent to as many members of congress as the author of it can find E-mail addresses for.

Well, it looks like NME may have signed it. I can't be sure, but that seems to be his style.
I will not sign that poorly worded, indesicive garble of yo-yoing thought. Unless you form a petition that has a clear statement and refrains from "I don't know..." followed by "...but the mass majority agrees with me" I refuse to add my John Hancock.
At least I take the time to fully read something before I sign it and make up my mind for myself.
