It depends on the kind of retainer... I have one of those clear type ones, and I only wear it on the weekends. At first, I had to wear it all the time, then every night, then I could skip a night, then I could just do what I'm doing now, Fri night, Sat night and Sun night.

It only hurts of your gms swelled up around them... One of mine did that and I had blood in a few places, no biggie (although I could go for one of those from Wendy's...)

gee thats the same step i took ... well first i had this horrid contraption strapped to my face called head-gear ... then my dentist tossed a set of braces in my mouth for three years and now i wear a retainer ... i'mm supposed to wear it all teh time, but i never got used to talking with it so i just wear it at night ... yea, i never follow instructions ... theyre jsut general suggestions to me ... which isn't exactaly a good way of looking at things ... oh well

I still have a retainer to wear. I wear for night purposes only now. I think I'm going to lose it though very soon. ^_^
