"WAAAAAAHHHH!!!! NARUSEGAWA!!!"
*Accidentally gropes breast*
*Gets kicked through wall and over horizon, as "the hell that is my life" plays in the backround*
But anyways, what if the computer were self aware, and raised from birth as a human, in a humanoid body, not knowing that it was an android? Would you be able to tell?

That depends, how sexy is your toaster? The Non-Professional wrote:Go hump your toaster and share sweet memories with it.*
Does it have a big bra size and nice hips along with a very tight slot?

What you speak of REALLY cracks me up ^_^

Depends on the quality of the mechanics inside. For that matter, since it would be a robot, it would be self-aware from "birth", in an adult physical state. Would it have memories of a childhood? Would it have any information that wasn't input into it before it was switched on? We are human, partly because we become the result, the sum, of our experiences and free will.Dannywilson wrote:But anyways, what if the computer were self aware, and raised from birth as a human, in a humanoid body, not knowing that it was an android? If I did know it was a robot (and one would probably find out), I would not love it. Perhaps because of some deep down, subliminal, primal idea that it would not suffice to pass on my genes, but perhaps, too, on an emotional level, I would find it hard to connect in any meaningful way with what is essentially a wrapped package of circuit boards and code.
Humans both desire and hate the unpredictability of other humans. Not just personality, but the physical aspects too. We evolved in a chaotic, random world, which we still live in. A stable creature like a robot is probably something we cannot handle emotionally.

actually that is debatable, there is suck a thing as a mechanical neural network. it could very well have a mechanical brain that acts exactly like a humans.

One could say it depends on how valuable a human is compared to a robot. A human, much like a rose, takes time to grow and flower, mentally and physically. And much like a rose, we value humans all the more because of this (well, ideally, at leastCorran Productions wrote:I can't say I would fall in love with such a form without actually meeting something truely real but if it has feelings I wouldn't disregard it either...

A robot, on the other hand....
When you can make one in a few hours, an exact copy, and even merge the data from the old one into a new one, there isn't the same sense of treasuring, of value. It's the difference between a Ming vase, and your average cafeteria dishes.

the mechanica brain will act exactly like the real one. there will be NO visible difference in the way the person acts. With a few exceptions.
It will never grow mental old, and it's braincells woill never die. It would be super intelligent. So by that right there would be no way to tell the difference unless you cracked it's head open or gave it an IQ test.

i don't think it's the body that matters so much as the soul and mind. so if the brain and all that went with it were to be transferred to a mechanical shell, well, i guess i'd have to deal with it. if your love is true how could you lose it just because the outside is different. a good example is something i heard about a man who was in a fire. so horribly scared that he really was like a monster. he had to attach a fake face so as not to scare his children because the burns on his face were so bad. and yet his wife stays by his side. if that's not true love i don't think i know a better example. Sayonara.

I don't think I have much of a say who I fall love with, it kinda just happens.
If it was a machine it would prove my mother right, She always said I was in love with a computer. Go the Chi complex!
I think humans just imitate love personally, if we others didn’t tell us what to think we would run around humping hairy bitches we knocked out with a rather large stick.
Having seen Chobits and Hand Maid May, yer, in that situation I wouldn’t worry about their morals of falling in love with a artificial life form. Robots and computers are still the son’s and daughters of man. We are no longer born of god, but born of man. Hand Maid May he didn’t fall in love with May, actually, from what I gathered he was going to get some from the girl next door being that he had a son. Chii on the other hand was raised as a daughter, she had parents and was inbuilt the same data that would make a human girl.. well what you would deem human. However, the data was wiped. (Amnesia anyone?)
Although I’m not one to run out and have sexual intercourse with electric goods because of the convience, I’m will never denie my heart. If my feelings were true, I would stick by them, and love my toaster should my toaster return my feelings.
But, I’m the sort of person that loves someone for who they are, so we are talking about a pretty bloody charming toaster here.
