IIRC, 4 years ago today (or possibly tomorrow) is the first day that I saw Sailor Moon on Toonami and basically fell into the trap that eventually through several chains of cause and effect led me here and otherwise where I am today :\
So what happened? Well I'd been a pokemon geek since it came out in october '98, and I was obsessed with the TV show and such (I was 11 at the time). So one day my friend at school was telling me about Thundercats and how I should watch it at 4:30 on CN. We had just gotten a new cable thing installed that gave us cartoon network :\ so. I flipped to the nifty new interactive guide and checked this thundercats thing out that was supposed to be on. At 4:00 I saw "Sailor Moon", and by some strange means (I had never heard of it before...) thought to myself "Oh, this is another one of those japanese cartoons like Pokemon", so I turned it on. Coincidentally enough, it was the first episode of Sailor Moon R. Anyway... I loved it :O and "serena" was like the cutest animated girl I'd ever seen, beating out even Misty (I was 12 at this point, cut me a break -_-). So I watched it and eventually DBZ and was a Toonami fan for like 2 years until I got a DVD player and bought Eva and etc.
It's pretty safe to say though that a few key incidents like this one managed to shape and form pretty much every aspect of my would be future, which is pretty interesting to ponder.
I'd go into every occurence that had a huge effect but seemed insignificant or innocent at the time, but maybe another time, and I doubt anyone wants to read that crap anyway :\
