Then I stopped being cool. :)
OtakuOutpost wrote:Now it seems like the whole scene has been taken over by little kids and is overrun with perversion, ignorance, arrogance, and immaturity.
perversion: Personally, I dislike the sex banter here, partly because it's a highly-trafficked site. There aren't exactly any rules about it, though.

ignorance: Newbies will be newbies, though I don't think that's the kind of ignorance you were talking about.

arrogance: There was some arrogance in the old days. :) I try to ignore it.

immaturity: It ticked me off to no end when someone posted a "serious" question in Off-Topic, and before getting an answer, someone posted a "funny picture" in the thread. That's been happening a little less now though. Unless I don't notice it because I'm reading fewer threads.
OtakuOutpost wrote:The AIM chat room is particularly bad.
<shrug> I stopped going. (except a couple of times recently when something was wacky with the org)
NME wrote:You're all gay, I'm not. The end.
I thought I'd seen the last of that usage of the word "gay" in high school. Thankfully (sarcasm), the internet has shown that it has not died out.
Koopiskeva wrote:I've noticed that many of the older creators have strayed from this site, but some others have learned to embrace it.
Or tolerate it.
WilLoW :--) wrote:You're speaking like me when I see more and more people interested in Anime. I was persuaded to be part of a small "elite" group but it gets bigger and bigger, I do not feel "unique" anymore.
You want to be part of a small elite group? Join Covert Ops.

"Agent Willow, your mission is to infiltrate Japan and return with several anime goodies. Repeat, goodies."

:)
WilLoW :--) wrote:Also, maybe the new creators would be more firendly if the "older" ones were more active on the forums, to tell them what can be said, what shouldn't be said
Some people don't listen. (waits for SpPanda to ask for ROMs again)
FirestormXIII wrote:The one thing that you don't hear in the reminiscing about the old site is how rudely newcomers were treated in the forums
Yes, but that still happens now. Let's see:
1. People get annoyed at "hi, I'm new!" posts.
2. Phade sets up a forum in part for that.
3. People start to say "hi" there, but some people start this stupid "n00b killing" stuff. I find the graphic descriptions used appalling. (the lack of courtesy more than the descriptions themselves) If someone new walks into a room at a party, do you go up to them and say, "hey n00b I rip your guts out with my +3 blade of righteous n00b slashing lolololol!!!"

You want to role play? Go to a bloody D&D game.
anneke wrote:Insults thrown back and forth even when it's in play with friends (we don't know that your friends), we don't know that your just playing being Rude. It's annoying. And not a welcome environment.
Agreed. (depends on the rudeness level, and how many :):):) LOLOLOLs are used)
Xenodrake wrote:its the level of stupidity they openly display like its some badge of honor or something.
I like this turn of phrase. :)
OtakuOutpost wrote:How many times will people argue this crap before they realize it's pointless?
Keep in mind some of the arguers are new to the "scene"...

In short: The scene is dead! Long live the scene! :)

How do we determine which generation we are?

I am crying level confused  .

The world in general has been in a stagnant state for a while now. It's no surprise that it would spread here.
I'm out...
