I do so wish I could see the cowboy bebop movie on the big screen.

...the problem I see a lot is that many good amv makers think they suck, and many bad amv makers think they're good.
I've seen it happen, man! I've SEEN IT!..

My question is basicaly,

"IF THEY DON'T HAVE TO PAY, WHY DO I?"
Well let's see there is the liscencing and then getting a dub cast together and a translator etc etc plus a limited market for it hmm I wonder why it would be exspensive. You could always learn japanese and go live in Japan.

[quote="CaTaClYsM"]First, off, the few shows that are worth watching I do watch, secondly, I have been trying to learn japanese so I can understand what the people are sayign so I wont need the sub titles, and thrildy, translating and subbign things does not cost as much as you make it out to be, because there are a bunch of people that are doing fansubs out of their own pocket in their free time, so either these people doing this stuff are richer than the studio's, or the studio's are out to make money. And lets not forget that the voice actors they get to do these dub's arent exactly what I would call 'Top Notch' or 'Skilled'. Hell there was a big long thread in this board about Dub's vs Subs and how 90% of the voice acting in anime sucked.[/quote)

And you dont feel you should have to pay for music either am I right? Wtf is wrong with you man. Ok I do watch digisubs but if I like the series I go out and buy it when it is commercially released and I never own digisubs if the anime is already on the market. You are hurting us all by not supporting the commercial market. On the other hand the market needs to help the fans too. Crappy rushed out dubs will not sell anime to the american people.

Listen you two bit cheap bastard, and listen well. You know those people translating and subtitling a show out of their own pocket? Yeah.. THAT'S ME, YA PUNK! Do you know how big a pain in the ass it is to translate, time, typeset, encode, review, correct, recode, and finally post these damn fansubs? I wish someone were paying me for all the bullshit I have to go through just so you can watch a show for free! Someday I WILL be paid for it when I become a professional translator! All those jobs have people in a fansub group, just like all those jobs have people in a professional company.. excepyt in a professional company, there's even MORE people. Actors, executives, machinists, marketing, PR, and much more. Do you think all of those people can make a living do this stuff for you FOR FREE? Do you think that they can possibly have any sort of life other than doing this for you? I don't think so. THey need money. They need money to live. They need money to publish. THey need money to get more liscences.

What you think is FREE broadcasting in Japan is actually paid for by advertisments. You know, COMMERCIALS? THat's where companies ask you to buy their products/services. Yay, you remembered. Good for you, here's a cookie.
Not to mention socialist countries like Japan charge you a tax for owning a tv!

Whether it's a wise decision or not isn't the case here. You're not supposed to be able to see anime for free. Just like insurance, you buy it even if you might never use it... or in anime's case, like it. That's just how it works, otherwise it's illegal but I guess it's cool nowadays to bend the law to make it more convenient and cheaper.
Hmm the first anime series I got was slayers. On the front of slayers were advertisements for two other anime series lodoss war and knights of ramune. I got both. Knights of ramune sucked lodoss war kicked ass. Then I found out they had anime at blockbuster and I rented tenchi and ranma. Boom I liked them now I own the complete series. I didn't discover fansubs until about a year ago. Go to your local vid store if you want to try out a series.
