Slayers stole the sound effects from DBZ.

Post by Castor Troy » Thu Mar 13, 2003 11:58 am

It wasn't too apparent in first series. Just a few fireball sounds were familiar.

Then I finished watching the entire series of Slayers Next and realized whenever Lina summoned the Ragna blade, it EXACTLY made the Super Saiyan aura sound.

My friend used to joke about this all the time and I didn't believe him till I actually watched Slayers myself.

I noticed this too. Its not too suprising at all. One, I think, although im not sure, Slayers was also made by Toei. However, even its not, most anime, or shows in general, do not custom make all their sound effects. There are many big archives of sound effects and stuff that studio producers can grab stuff from. If you really pay attention, youll notice a lot of common sound effects between almost all anime series. DBZs just stand out so much because of certian ones you cant forget, like the SSJ aura sound.

Oh and Castor....YOURE JUST NOW WATCHING SLAYERS? Evil gave that to you like a fucking year ago. I know life can get busy but what took so long?

I watched the first 2 eps the day he gave it to me, then I got occupied for the next few months working on my video. I got the video done and finally had time to finish Slayers Next in a 2 week run.

You hear recycled sound effects all the time, Gainax titles often have shared sounds, like Eva sounds in FLCL for an example, it's a common practice.

They all use cheesy music from the 70s whats the big deal? Anyway Slayers should never be mentioned in the same sentence as Dbz its one hundred trillion times better.

Ditto with Mr. Oni.

BTW watch AIC anime titles (Tenchi, Oh My Goddess, Photon, Bubblegum Crisis 2040, Now and Then Here and There, Pretty Sammy, Battle Atheletes, etc... (Best damn animation company ever ahem :P ) ) A lot of their shows share background music and sound effects. Particularly Tenchi and Oh My Goddess.

Also notable, Rurouni Kenshin and Samurai Deeper Kyo share some background music. 8)
