Reign: The Conqueror -- What do you think?

Post by Stoic » Tue Mar 11, 2003 9:47 am

Yo if you have only watched this on the cartoon network, watch the Directors cut and then reply.

What do you guys think of this show? I like it but a lot of people have expressed great dislike for this show. I was just wondering the people's opinions on this forum.

I just picked up Reign: The Conqueror: Original Directors Cut Ascension.

And there is a noticable difference between this and what airs on cartoon network. I just wanted your two cents on this series.

I haven't watched it yet, but I want to. I thought Aeon Flux (Peter Chung's other big title) was great, but I don't want to see the hacked broadcast version (missing 8-10 min/ep), and I've got a limited budget so I haven't bought it yet...looks like I need to sign up for netflix again.

I liked Aeon Flux and I also like Reign. Im not to fond of the half nakedness but the storyline is pretty good. A new view point on the story of Alexander the great is a pretty good idea. Animation might seem wierd to some but for those of us who watched Flux years ago, its pretty normal.

I like it for the utterly weird, Aeon-Flux-like interpretation of all the classical Greek philosophers and philosophies. If you look close, they actually get most of the ideas right.

I'm not all that fond of how utterly bishonen everything is, but the stretched-out El Greco character designs and alien architecture, clothing, and warcraft is all pretty neat.

I have to admit that I have only seen what they have shown on Cartoon Network... and I only saw 2 eps.

I think it has potential and I liked what I saw (and I liked Aeon Flux as well)

I like to see good animated titles NOT made in Japan...

However, my views are limited right now... I want to see more before I make a solid judgement.

Reign wasn't too bad, although when i first saw it, i was flicking through the channels sleepily and got stuck on it as soon as i saw the animation of it. I like it, but i found it somewhat confusing the first time around due to me falling right in the middle of the episode. x_X;;

I like the story from what I've seen (albeit only the CN cut...I'm curious to check out the director's cut at some point)

The character designs were irritating at first, but are starting to grow on me

i may have only seen the cartoon network's version but i really liked it. even my sister who basically doesn't watch animated tv in any form, was really enjoying herself when she watched it. i mean i like the way they take the history of alexander and his conquests and throw in some really odd things. it's just great, i guess i really need to go and get the directors version though.
