FLCL nose bleeds

i don't know if this was asked befor ... but you know in episode 4 of FLCL, when Naota hit the bomb back into orbit with the guitar haruko pulled out of his head ... What the hell wsa going on in the control room where every one's face was covered in blood? I looked liek they all had nose bleeds, what was it caused by anxiety or stress or what? I don't get it ... could somone please explain it to me ...

Yes, thats true ... but why wasn't that eye brow guy's nose bleeding? And would that bomb entering the aptmosphere have caused the preassure to change that much if at all?
