No one is going to react the same way in every circumstance. Sometimes you reach a point where you have to vent in some fashion or you'll explode; other times you just want to lay in bed and forget there is a world beyond your mattress. Me, I don't generally get creative when I'm depressed. I either sit around in a funk or I go psycho in my journal.
Course, maybe I've had great ideas while depressed and forgot them later... who knows?

I get just as much ins when I am happy
But those ideas are usually more upbeat and funnier than the ideas I get when I am depressed. Except for one time, oh and that was such a sweet idea.
Question: Why are things considered more emotional when they are surrounded with negative emotions? (A little off topic but still kind of on the topic of depression)

If I had to guess, I'd say because negative emotions are often times stronger, or at least more strongly felt, than positive emotions, so people relate to them more.
IMHO, though, what you've said is a bunk. Zerophite's Open the Light video is, I think, a wonderful expression of happiness and positive emotions.

I seem to work more intensely when I'm depressed. I made a video after a very painful break up and all the responses I got were "wow, that really depressed me". *sniff* It wasn't the best video at all technically, but it definately had some intense feelings in it. (even if I'm the only one who understood them).
I've always used writing as an outlet, as well. I've noticed that in the last few years where I've been a bit happier, that I don't write as much. It was a way to channel those energies.
Now I just feel ...
