In need of serious assistance...

Hmm, well, I guess I should start this story as best as I can.

I just recently got myself parts for a brand new computer... Athlon XP 2600, 1 gig of RAM, 160 gig hd... the works. I thought I'd died and gone to heaven.

That is... until my harddrive crashed

It just... died without any warning whatsoever. Well, I had copied all my files from the old computer to the new one, as my wife was taking over the old computer. So I went ahead and copied the files and formatted her drive and gave her a good clean installation of Windows. Therefore, I had absolutely no backup.

And the next day, my harddrive crashed.

Now, this is where I want to request the help... I shortly lost my webhosting, so I had no backup of the amvs I created. Fortunately, my second one was backed up on cd, but my very first amv wasn't. The question I have is if *anyone* might possibly have it laying around on their harddrive somewhere. Here's the info...

It's a Final Fantasy IX amv, and it's set to a song called "Beautiful," sung by Flickerstick.

The file name should have my creator name, Fire Rules, on there somewhere, and I have my name on the video itself as well. If anyone has this please please *please* email or im me. I'm sure you understand how important it is to me.

'Beautiful as a Dagger'

Certainly not all that great of a video, but it carries great sentimental value...

Could you tell us what what brand of harddisk it was... so that we can stay far, far away from it...

Heh...

It was actually a Western Digital... I've used Western Digitals for most of my life it seems, and have *never* had anything like that happen to me before. I'm willing to place blame on Fed Ex before I say it was a defective harddrive... ehh, like it matters now.

I wouldn't be too sure it was a fluke- it wouldn't happen to have been one of the 120GB 'Special Edition' 8MB cache drives, would it? I had mine go out earlier this year (causing me to have to deal with Dell's assinine customer service system, which was not fun since my computer isn't a Dell- I just bought the hard drive from them), and found out a bit after that the 120GB 8MB drives have had a decent amount of problems.
