I was interested in Ragnarok for a while but I couldn't get in either. Everquest......I just can't stand the way people play it. And I'm not paying $10 a month either. Call me picky.....go ahead. I've heard things here and there about UO. Mostly bad though.
I saw in a PLAY mag the other day that a Mechwarrior online game had won the shiznit award for best online game with EQ and the SIMS close on it's tracks. Maybe I should take up Mech piloting..... :?

Is it just fantasy rpgs that suck online?

I played RO in the alpha and it was so cool I would have gladly payed to play that ONE alpha test, then it went beta and everything went to hell, that crap isn't worth paying for.
So in other words, one part of the community is waging war on another part of the community because they take their community seriously enough to want to do so. Then they tell the powerless side to get over the loss cause it's just an online community. I'm glad people make so much sense." -- Tab

The best MMORPG that I've played is probably Phantasy Star Online. Great 3D Anime graphics with pretty smooth animations, the controls were slick and very customizable, The icon creator was almost like a game in itself and was very fun to play with, and using the phrase generator you could converse with players of different languages relatively well. PSO was eventually inundated with hackers and stuff unfortunately, and then the Dreamcast fell to the wayside and I stopped playing. Now it is available for the Game Cube and also there's a PC version being marketed overseas right now. I'd pick it back up but I don't have enough time to devote to a MMORPG right now and am not sure if I want to commit to buying a Game Cube and all the accessories required to play PSO just now.

Go get on Yahoo Chat and go into the User Rooms in the Entertainment & Arts category. It's a text based rp game, everyone sits around, talks about how great they are and no one ever dose anything interesting except spend money on ale and whores, and no one will tell you how to play, brand you as a newbie and put you on ignore. It's effin' great ^_^

These games are bloody dangerous. It's too easy to fall into a pattern with them. You make a character you really like and then obsess about him and what you're going to do next. I love it! :) It's kind of like coming here, only you get to kill stuff.

Wykith wrote:Can anyone recommend a good one? I've seen Everquest but am not impressed. I've played Neverwinter nights........It's alright but being the anime buff that I am, I place a lot of weight on visual content as well as development. I guess I'm trying to find a game that has a great RP base and still delivers a good sensorial enjoyment factor.
Dark Age of Camelot had some fun moments.
