You don't get it: Scott is not a mod. Faking it so that someone looks like a mod is way too easy to do. You can easily make it so that everyone looks like a mod. With the crap that everyone seems to be pulling recently, the last thing that needs to happen is, "Hey everyone! Since we're all pissed at the mods, look over here! I've got this picture where it looks like [username] is a mod! Do with this information as you like..." Can you see how that could be a bad thing?
Also, the moderators cannot change avatar and sigs. Only I can. If you think that it was improper to try to protect the innocent, how else should I have protected the innocent?
Here's what happened to me yesterday: I get home from work. I go to check my email before I have to drive for 4 hours. I see someone posting grossly false information that could potentially be harmful to an innocent member given the current situation. Members leave because other members harass them. Since I have no time to sit down and write out my usual long explanation of why such-a-such is bad, I remove the images and go back to getting ready to leave for my trip.
All this crap about "Oh, it's a giant conspiracy theory to protect the mods" crap is just that, crap! The mods are hidden for a reason: I want to keep the mods around and I don't want them as individuals to be looked down upon for what they do. If you have a problem with the mods, there are two things you can do: either come to me with the problem or don't post to the forum anymore.
This site is like a house. Just because someone let you into the house, it doesn't mean you have the "right" to piss on the carpet.
There is now a new forum rule: "Do not abuse your site and forum privileges. Abuse will have them taken away."

you dont get it: then the php seriously fucked up, because his name was highlighted in the green shade that indicates a moderator. Jonmartensen can vouch for this as well, he posted about it too. Before my sig was changed the pic was posted as an image on the forum, so whichever mod removed it certainly could have left some sort of message, ESPECIALLY if the php really just got screwed up somehow. I never said you shouldnt have removed my sig and avatar, if you wanted me to shut up you should have said so (notice the lack of me posting anything about this person since my sig was removed?) because I wasnt aware that I was breaking any rules.
I dont know how you likened my posting a pic of a mod to pissing on the a-m-v.org carpet... or how it was abusing privelages. We're purposely kept in the dark about the mods, so when the system fails the members are suddenly expected to be courteous about it? Sorry, I didnt respect the integrity of the system, but I didnt do it out of spite at all, simply amazement that such a glitch occurred.
Now that its such a big freakin deal I wouldnt do it again IF it ever does happen again, it was simply an 'oh my god, theres a VISIBLE mod! Scandalous :} postpostpostpost' which somehow ballooned.
Also, nobody was pissed at the mods except sppanda, in fact as you can see in the Mod drop box people are praising them!

1) post that a mod was visbel was not bad. posting his name should not be bad. however, we now have a warning. becous of sernte tencel diffcltys, i dont know wether this warning has been posted in sight ansoments, but it sould be
2) the pic. once agine i did not see anything regrding the pic. however, as far as i can see if you both apleges (Phade for remveing it with out warning, althoug that seems to have happned, ed for puting it up, admitedly with out ill intestions ill asume but it was still fole and even the unfosen trespasses should be aplgesed for) then the sisution will be resovled
3) i am not a mod, god, site owner or able to do anything to get thease done. i do not hold any orthty here other then my own personal orthy, and can not get thease done. i wouyld like it if, but do not exspcte thease to be done.

RadicalEd0: Rule #1 of the AnimeMusicVideos.org Code of Ethics: Thou shalt be courteous at all times. It appears that you were well aware of the policy of moderators being invisible/anonymous. By posting an image of who you thought was a moderator, it indicated to me that you were maliciously trying to circumvent that policy and publicly trying to destroy the anonymity of the moderator(s), weather you were trying to do that or not.
What's done is done. We have an understanding that it won't happen again. That is good enough for me.
